Hôtels proches de Chiesa di Materdomini, Matera

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

Devo subito premettere che eravamo giunti a Matera senza aver effettuato alcuna prenotazione. Dopo vari tentativi andati a vuoto, dal Piccolo Albergo ci hanno fatto sapere che avevano ancora una stanza disponibile, ma con un letto alla ”francese” in pratica una piazza e mezza. Quindi nessuna sorpresa quando ci siamo trovati in questa camera, al secondo piano senza ascensore, dove anche il bagno era minuscolo. Niente tavolino, né frigo o un bicchiere in bagno ma soprattutto nessuna climatizzazione... momentaneamente fuori servizio. Molta cortesia e disponibilità (ci hanno reso disponibile un posteggio gratuito per due giorni) e non è poco. Anche il prezzo è stato ragionevolmente piccolo.

Nous y sommes restés 2 nuits dans la suite 502. En un mot « magnifique » de chaque côté 2 grandes terrasses qui surplombent des monuments historiques c’est dire que la situation est parfaite car on peut visiter toute la vieille ville de Matera à pied. La salle de bain est munie d’un hammam intégré dans la douche. La suite est très joliment décorée. Le personnel est charmant, bon petit déjeuner…

Suite numéro 38 , splendide. Salle de bain hors du commun , creusée dans la roche avec double vasque , double douche , belles lumières , aromathérapie Grande chambre avec belle vue extérieure, appréciable si on se sent oppressé dans une chambre troglodyte , minibar offert , machine à expresso. Très raffiné et endroit parfait pour visiter cette ville magnifique. On peut se garer dans un parking public à l’extérieur ( prendre en sous sol moins cher que celui en surface , 0,5 € par heure ) Un petit bus vous emmène au terminus situé à quelques mètres de l’hôtel. Possibilité aussi de prendre un parking privé avec service de navette de l’hôtel , tarif plus élevé . 2 nuits au moins sont nécessaires à mon avis pour profiter de cet hôtel magnifique et de l’ambiance magique de Matera , notamment la nuit. .

Excellent accueil de l'hôtesse Rossella, qui nous a remarquablement conseillés et s'est occupée des démarches auprès de l'agence touristique. L'emplacement est idéal, juste en-dehors des zones les plus animées, mais à quelques minutes à peine des principaux points d'intérêt. Un emplacement de parking est proposé. Les chambres sont très confortables.

J'ai du mal à comprendre les commentaires dithyrambiques !!!La vue est magnifique depuis la terrasse, certes, mais cela ne fait pas tout ! La climatisation ne fonctionne pas en mai ! Nous avions une chambre au 2 e étages sous le toit avec une petite fenêtre qui ne donnait pas d'aération, même grande ouverte. De plus un réverbère de la rue allumé toute la nuit éclairait la chambre comme en plein jour ! Il y a un ascenseur mais qui s'arrête au premier ! Aide moyenne pour porter les bagages jusqu'au 2 e. Peut-être faisait il plus frais dans les chambres grottes ? mais pas pour moi, merci, nous ne sommes plus au temps des cavernes ! L'accueil ? le moins chaleureux de tout notre voyage dans les pouilles... Petit déjeuner assez moyen.

Nous avons passé le week-end à Matera, ce n'était pas la première fois, et chaque fois, nous sommes fascinais par la beauté des lieux, par la sympathie de ses habitants et par leur sens de l'hospitalité. Cette fois, vous avez ajouté une belle note plus: l'hôtel du camp où nous avons séjourné. Un beau hôtel caractérisé par de grandes chambres confortables, des espaces communs larges et élégants. Le petit déjeuner buffet riche en produits de excellente qualité et doux en profondeur le personnel tout gentil et disponible. Une expérience agréable à répéter.

Nous étions en voyage organisé. Hôtel magnifique, neuf,propre, très plaisant. Très bonne restauration. Le personnel est d'une gentillesse extrême. Très à l écoute du client et très prévenant avec une empathie hors du commun. En effet mon mari ayant fait une chute ayant nécessité un transfert aux urgences, c'est le directeur qui nous y a conduit et le veilleur de nuit qui est venu nous rechercher à minuit. Malgré l heure plus que tardive un repas nous attendait. Une grand merci à toute l'équipe.

Un hôtel avec un lobby et des zones communes très belles; les chambres confortables, propres, attirant l'attention sur quelques détails (comme le climatisation, un peu bruyant). Le temps nous n'avons pas pu utiliser l'auberge car le temps d'utilisation est limité (10 à 19 h), l'eau était chaude. Matera reste à 15 minutes en voiture, l'hôtel a une zone de stationnement.
