Village Hotel

Staff were very friendly and the food was good with some different options to the traditional fare which was nice as we had been eating out for nearly 2 weeks. We had a table in a small section adjacent to the main dining area which was a little quieter and was very nice. There is plenty of parking right outside.

Do not enter contract with this place or purchase vouchers as they will not honour them and management do not return calls, staff are all extremely slow but they are often left chasing wages so so who could blame them, management blame the owners, and vice versa

Absolutely Disgraceful! - Don't book a Wedding here you'll only be let down. . Had a wedding booked at The Village Hotel in Bettystown since early summer 2023 as I've been there many times for weddings and food etc. It was booked for August 2024 with a non refundable deposit and contract signed. The rooms were being used to house refugees at the time and we were told that the contract expired in April 2024 and the rooms would be 100% free for our wedding day. I found numerous posts saying The Village Hotel are cancelling people's rooms for weddings and only offering use of function room. Naturally I wanted to see if there was any truth behind it........ Turns out it was true! I made a call and spoke to an extremely rude receptionist who had no interest in passing on a message to the wedding coordinator. I was told to call back at a 12pm which I did. The same receptionist answered and said it's only 12.10pm call again later. (Staff are normally lovely). I then got a call shortly after from the owner of the hotel. He wanted to meet for a chat, so I met him that day. He proceeded to tell me "he couldn't honour our contract as he was renewing a contract with the government to house refugees for another year". He then tried to offer me discount by saying "he will put my guests on a shuttle bus to stay in the City North Hotel or he will try to move the refugees to a hotel for one night to accommodate the Wedding" ....... Absolutely laughable stuff. He also offered me my deposit back and a reimbursement of any deposits I lose with vendors. (obviously couldn't keep my money as he broke a contract). I do understand he tried to work with me but it's the principal and not what was agreed upon in contract. He stated he would personally email over the details later. That day I received a generic looking email which was signed off by "Kind regards, Front of house". Not even a staff members name or the decency to email himself like he said he would. I obviously took my deposit back and asked him to honour his word and pay for any deposits I lose from vendors due to date changes etc......... Just another generic email saying if we have our wedding there they will go above and beyond for us haha. Completely avoided his promise! The smug and condescending attitude of the owner during our meeting was infuriating and his apology didn't feel sincere at all. Customer care is shocking! We have family members who have bought flights already and we are struggling to find the same date in another venue. Please stop promising people things you know you can't deliver you're messing with people's time and money. I hate writing these type of reviews but I feel like people need to know this.

Very disappointed with the village hotel today. Normally an excellent venue. Breakfast is advertised until 12 however on arrival at 11:40 told breakfast finished at 11:30 If you are going to advertise times on the webpage menu at least honor them or change them to the correct times.

I have no words to express how happy I am to organise the party with Village hotel. THEY "surpassed all expectations!!! Not only at the start but during the whole party they went an extra mile to help with the party!!! Thank to Sinead, Egle and all the lovely staff member!!!!

I attended a family wedding recently at the Village hotel, On arrival the guests were greeted at the entrance marquee, they were not allowed into the garden and had no choice but to stand around the car park as there was not enough room for everyone in the marquee, a few guests found their way to the garden and were asked to leave, an explanation given later was the garden is off limits at 9.30 this was the middle of the afternoon, very embarrassing for the bride and groom, The function room was chosen as the wedding venue as it opened into the garden and this was the selling point when it was booked, the curtains were drawn the entire time even though it was a lovely summers evening and some guests noticed the shutters were down on the windows behind the curtains. We did not even see the garden for the entire day except for the one or two guests who were asked to leave and had a photo of the lovely garden. Very disappointing for the bride and groom who worked so hard to have the perfect day.
