Apartments Dante Domus Aurea

I am deeply disappointed with this rental; it was supposed to be a 4-star property, but the setbacks started piling up after arrival. Firstly, one should hope not to be on the ground floor because those apartments feel more like basements, with a lovely view of car wheels and license plates in the parking lot – not exactly the ideal vacation view! While the terrace is somewhat pleasant, the view is not impressive either. One should not trust the reviews, as they seem to greatly exaggerate the reality. Regarding the apartment itself, it was reasonably clean and equipped (although lacking a coffee machine and functional wifi, not suitable for remote workers!). However, rushed previous repairs resulted in many poorly done or unfinished things, for example: - The front door handle was broken and haphazardly glued, only to break again during our stay. - The shutter had been previously tampered with (the joys of being on the ground floor!), causing it not to fully close after being raised. - The bathroom shower door barely functioned, and even the doorknobs were mismatched! Moreover, the joints were full of mold, and the touch-ups seemed to be done with a paintbrush! - The bathroom's ceiling light was non-functional, with only the small mirror lantern working. - The air conditioning was in the living room, leaving the bedroom without proper cooling (not clearly specified in the listing). Finally, even though it's not a deal-breaker for us, the location is a bit far from the center of the village and quite uphill, which can be a cardio workout if you arrive on foot with suitcases! I don't recommend this establishment at all, as I believe they greatly exaggerate the level of quality they offer, charging much more than what you'll find elsewhere in Croatia. We've been coming here for five years, thinking we'd spend more for better quality, but it's best to opt for a real hotel or homestay at a much lower price. I must mention that the on-site property managers are probably not to blame, as they try to do their job with the resources provided by the management, and they remain cordial and helpful! In conclusion, I strongly advise against booking an apartment here. If you already made a reservation, try canceling it without paying. If you must honor the reservation, prepare to request a discount (I managed to get 10% without much effort; I should have asked for 20%, but it's still not enough to compensate for the inconveniences I faced). This place is undoubtedly a scam. Run away from it!
