"Dog friendly cafe in the middle of Warkworth . Last minute stop off and boy we were so glad we did. A bustling little cafe with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard through the back where we sat today as the weather was good. We had a prawn cocktail sandwich, with a side of salad and we shared a portion of skinny fries. All fresh, clean tastes and very good portions. Followed by a Cappuccino and fruit scones. Delicious! Staff friendly, great place to visit. We walked out and said Wow!"

"Nous avons eu une grande chambre familiale entre nous deux ; il était idéal. Très raisonnable prix. Il est peu probable d'obtenir un lie-in, mais comme il était confronté au parc et à la route et il sera probablement toujours quelque chose qui fasse un bruit, dans notre cas la bière fournit environ 7.30. Le restaurant est très confortable et le restaurant est très confortable."

Fairfield House

"We managed to get a last minute booking here and so glad we did. We arrived and was greeted by Mandy who showed us to a beautiful room in her fabulous house. The room was elegantly furnished, all the linen and bedding was of a high grade and a very confortable bed. The bathroom tastefully set out with sumptuous towels and bathrobes provided. Everything was spotless, tea & coffee is provided in your room but you can also sit in the lounge with coffee & homemade cakes provided downstairs. The garden is stunning and we were lucky to see a duck and ducklings on the pond. We had one of the best breakfasts with generous portions. Both Mandy and Kevin were great hosts, friendly and welcoming. The house is walking distance from the town with lots of eating places and the river running through. Mandy will help guide you where to visit. Amble Harbour was pretty, visit the Old Custom House which is a cafe, with views out to the harbour. We will definitely be coming back here to stay, we met many returning guests."

Barnacre

"We booked a week away as a family and the house suited us perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms- bathrooms and all on one level. The house itself is perfect with good quality furnishings and fittings and we were delighted. Until the third day!! And from then on I have to be honest and say we were , and still are, extremely disappointed. The gas fire in the small lounge was making a very strange banging noise which was getting louder. I phoned for the owner who came to take a look. She was extremely dismissive of the problem asking us what did we expect from a 35 year old boiler. When we said we were worried about it being unsafe she very rudely stormed out of the house saying “ I’ll turn it off then!” We had the rest of the holiday with no heat in one half of the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages on return and asked them to look into this and advise re compensation as we’d paid for a house with central heating and didn’t have any for half of our stay. The owner was and still is very unco- operative asking for photos to prove our point? How she thinks we can do that I don’t know. She is also claiming that we asked her to turn it off which is just not true. As we pointed out we were concerned about the danger of a faulty boiler. We are not a rude or impolite family and don’t expect to be treated in this way when we have paid quite a lot of money to stay in any property. I’m really sorry to have to write all this but have been left with no alternative. If you’re thinking of renting Barnacre just be aware of a very poor and unnecessary attitude from the owner."

"Nous avons séjourné seulement 2 nuits, si c'était plus long! Ian était très bienvenu et nous a conseillé où manger. La chambre était très propre et bien équipée. La situation était vraiment calme, mais à proximité facile de Rothbury à pied. Il y avait de bonnes vues sur la ville. Le petit déjeuner était excellent, avec beaucoup de choix, tout frais cuisine."
