Göta Hotell

Very nice hotel right next to the lock station in Borensberg. Nice staff who take care of both check-in and the restaurant. The rooms are simple but clean and fresh. A fan in the room would have been desirable as it gets very hot. The restaurant has a fantastic location right next to the canal. Good food at good prices. Can highly recommend this hotel

If you’re especially keen to experience a disastrous evening - maybe as part of an anger management therapy - I strongly recommend a visit to the restaurant at Göta Hotel. What an absolutely catastrophic evening. In all fairness my expectations were slightly higher than normal since the management is new. We were off to a fairly good start with an attentive waitress (no. 1) wanting to show us to our table before we had even gotten rid of our drenched rain gear and umbrellas. Waitress no. 1 showed us to our table ( which we had pre-booked the previous day), handed us the menus and took our drink orders immediately. The drinks arrived promptly. We had only just had our drink sips and started looking at the menu when waitress no. 2 appeared with three guests in tow asking us if we could change not only table but room as her guests were brining a dog and dogs normally went into the room in which we had been seated. We were absolutely astonished; why on earth had we been seated in the ‘dog room’ in the first place…!? Incredible!!! We apparently communicated our astonishment fairly well since the ‘dog guests’ immediately retreated - together with waitress no. 2 - indicating that they might be able to solve the dog issue anyway. Seriously: is an already seated AND partly served guest expected to change table - let alone room - for a dog!!!??? What on earth is going on?! By now I was (I’m sorry to say) slightly fuming… Imagine our surprise when said waitress (no. 2) pass by our table a couple of minutes later happily informing us that they had solved the ‘dog issue’. What the hell do I care - why bother us as paying guests about the dog issue in the first place!!!??? We ordered one starter to share. The starter were served by waitress no. 2 on its plate and were put on the table between us. What on earth was going through this girls’ mind is beyond me but finally we had to specifically ASK her for two separate plates so that we could share…!? We were not offered any water or salt & pepper so I had to leave our table and go to the hotel reception to ask for it. No one took away our starter plates. Our mains arrived cold and (obviously) without cutlery as those (subsequently) went out with the starter plates. The one dessert we ordered (cheese) took forever to be served. When the check arrived waitress no. 2 had the nerve to as if we were content… I'm terribly sorry but what a downright insult!!! No tips, a really bad Tripadvisor review and an easy promise not to ever set foot in the restaurant of Göta Hotel again probably answers that question better than anything.

Tranquilo hotel junto al canal. Lugar muy tranquilo en el que tomar un café en la terraza con vistas a las esclusas. Además se puede observar muy bien el funcionamiento de las esclusas con el paso de los barcos.
