I arrived at this hotel late at night and asked if a whisky could be sent to our room. The receptionist waved his hand as contemptuously as if I had asked for an anteater. I later found the hotel is dry. Arriving there we found there was no fridge - in the heat of southern India! The room itself was admittedly clean and spacious. After our trip next day we returned to find that the room had not been made up - apparently you have to ask specially for this to be done, it's not automatic as is the invariable case elsewhere. At least, we asked, send up some extra teabags for the next morning. 'No' - we've run out of teabags. I couldn't believe this: an hotel in India running out of tea! The coffee, btw, is all instant. Again, amazing in a coffee-growing region. Whatever its title, this hotel is simply not up to International status.
