We arrived and I must say the receptionist was very nice & welcoming. We were a bit taken aback with the *****ped bare walls & threadbare flooring but were told they were redecorating. The room was - to be fair - clean. However, the wiring & electrics were ramshackle at best, the decor was very drab & the plastic concertina door to the bathroom was cracked & broken. The shower was, sadly, a mere lukewarm trickle. The heat however: unbearable. No air con (we knew this before booking) & completely useless ceiling fan meant it was literally unbearable. With no option but to have the window wide open, the room sadly overlooked a rowdy takeaway with drunken revellers going in and out through the early hours, not to mention the countless boy racers whizzing up and down the street which frightened my kids. The latter we realise is out of the hotel’s control but if you are a family, do not choose this hotel. At 3am after zero sleep my 12 yo daughter & I gave up and went to seek solace & air conditioning in our car. By 5am we were joined by my husband & son who had also given up & checked out. We knew it was 2* (it was a quick sleepover stop en route South) but at over €100, we would have expected more (some sleep at the very least!). Clean? Yes. Lovely receptionist? Yes. Bearable in the heat with the outside noise for families? Nope.
