Travelodge - Northampton Upton Way

When we arrived to this property firstly the concierge had a slight attitude when she was talking to us during our check-in with them, got the keys to enter our room which the door handle was in poor condition and not safe to stay in. We raise this matter with the concierge, however they said all doors are the same so they cannot do anything about it. When you enter the room there is a heavy damp smell. They have told us the floor carpets are three months old. However they were extremely stained dirty and some areas were wet under our feet. There was a damp smell in the room. The bathroom tap water smelt like sewage which we were disgusted to have a shower with when we raised all these issues to the concierge they said to us they can’t do anything about it and as we are there for a business day for one day we should just firm the situation. This is very unexpected and unprofessional. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Let me write an unbiased review of the hotel. The hotel was easy to find and the carpark had plenty of spaces. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young lady with a smile. We chatted about the hotel a little and she gave us all the information we needed. She was well dressed, polite and well mannered. She didn’t make us feel rushed as I rambled on about how much the hotel has changed since I stayed here almost 15 years ago. It has changed indeed! It was bright and clean and smelled lovely. The outside area and lobby and all hallways were spotless. When we walked into our room it was the perfect temperature. It was well stocked with everything we needed and also spotless. The bathroom was immaculate. It put my own bathroom at home to shame! The bed was super super comfy. I haven’t slept that well for a long time. The hotel itself was quiet and peaceful. The only sound we heard at all were the quiet footsteps of other guests coming and going. As we are in a band, we stay away a lot. I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in across Europe. For a budget hotel I was very surprised with how clean and well staffed it was. We asked for extra milk in the morning and it was delivered straight away with a smile. Check out was just as friendly. Easy to complete with no fuss. I can truthfully say I would have paid double for our stay. If you are worried about checking into a budget hotel I can say to ease your mind. I will come and stay here again and again. It’s easy to find, central to all the things Northampton has to offer and has everything you need for a pleasant night. Thank you to the staff at Upton way for a great experience.
