Alpine Villa Nozawa

A great experience all round. The booking process, check in, ski hire, bedrooms, beds, breakfast, cleanliness, knowledgeable and friendly staff made our skiing holiday better than we expected. We are a seasoned ski lodge family, Villa Nozawa is a lodge and you need to understand that some components of the lodge are communal. It’s not a hotel. You become part of the fabric of the lodge while you are staying. The ambience in the dining room is enhanced by a log fire, the drying room and boot fitting area work really well. The bar area is good as it’s a bit of a break out area from the living room and has its own wood burner. The skiing in Nozawa was excellent, perfect for all levels. Villa Nozawa is only a short walk to a chairlift that gives you access to the main gondola. You can ski all the way back to the base of that chair from almost anywhere on the mountain. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the Villa's location only a short 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the main eating area. The team at Nozawa holidays were helpful with everything and made our trip a great success. Thanks to all involved.

Three of us stayed here for our ski trip and had a lovely time. We had a wonderful view of the village with a cute little balcony. Our room was nice, part Japanese beds and part Western. The pillows let down an otherwise comfortable stay and affected the sleep quality - unanimous verdict. Such a small and cheap fix, so I hope they sort it for the next trip!! The breakfasts were good, not heaps but enough and something different every day for the hot component. I am not normally a fan of shared bathrooms, but it was ok. Showers were down a couple of flights of stairs and a pretty cold area in the middle of winter, but the water was hot. The communal areas were very appealing and cozy - just like the photos. Kudos to Akira, Lee, Marie and Kassie. They were most helpful during our stay. We booked directly with the resort and the process was very well handled, also for our ski rental and ski lessons. Lift pass was included in the room rate.

We stayed for a week. Breakfast was awful. The whole place was a very Australian experience. Not what I come to Japan for! We certainly would not return. The rooms do not have toilets. Most showers are in the basement. The onsen nearby has incredibly hot water and hence is unusable.
