First sight of the hotel showed an old, neglected tennis court at the front. The front door to the hotel was broken. Our room was clean but tired and the toilet seat was chipped in several places. The toilet roll was standing on an old broken plastic holder. There was no hot water. At dinner the restaurant had a delightful riverside view. The food was disappointing with the main course merely warm and the service below what we have previously experienced over the many years we have been coming to France. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs, ham and cheese, cereal, packeted donuts and madeleines. A small basket was put on our table containing 2 rolls and 2 miniature, very sweet pastries. There were no croissants and so I asked if I could have one. I was told no, because I had been given a sweet pastry and there were no more croissants. Madame on the next table to ours, kindly offered me her basket of pastries, which included croissants. When we left we noticed that a french man and his young daughter, who had entered the breakfast room quite a while after us, were enjoying a basket containing croissants. Internet is intermittent. Pros: The hotel is situated alongside the river. It is a beautiful setting with pathways along the river bank. Beds were comfortable Air-conditioning. There is a lIft. I deliberated between Le Rivage and The Pavilion Bleue for our overnight stay. I made the wrong choice. Le Rivage is next door to Le Pavilion Bleue, which we only saw as we passed but it looked beautiful and well maintained. We would not return to Le Rivage and do not recommend it.
