Thon Hotel Panorama

Hotel not far from train station maybe 15 minutes walk. Breakfast was very good plenty of choice. Room was large and beds were comfortable. Staff were very nice and helpful. Lady on the desk spent ages trying to find where we could get our covid tests done . Free coffee in the reception

Stayed in a business suite on the 11th floor. Spectacular view and the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. And I have travelled a lot. The only problem is the first night s staff member entered my room at 10:20 at night. He woke me from my sleep and I was startled. When asked him what was going on he said there was an alarm coming from my area. I don’t understand why they simply didn’t just call my room. It was unnerving to say the least. For longer stays this is a perfect place to stay because you have a kitchen in the room. I was disappointed with the bathroom however as it’s an open shower and water goes everywhere. The staff were excellent overall, besides the first night encounter and the breakfast was outstanding. Great location with a short distance to shops and restaurants.

So let's start with the fact that I booked this hotel on January 6 for a mid July stay of two nights in Oslo. I booked it for a number of reasons. 1 - centrally located near the fjord front and things we wanted to see/do. 2 - it had onsite parking, as we were driving from Western Norway to Stockholm and this was a stopover. 3 - it had a split larger room that my family stay in comfortably. So again, 6 months advanced reservation for a hotel that, while not perfect, fit what we needed. Anyway, we drive the 6 hours from Western Norway and arrive to the hotel on July 18th for our 2 night stay and there is scaffolding over most of the front and side of the hotel. We park on the sidewalk to unload the car and see if our room is ready....and I walk up to a sign that states...'Thon Hotel Panorama is closed for refurbishment. You should have been contacted and moved to another property. If not, call this number XXXXX.' Needless to say in the 6 months since my reservation, I had not been contacted about a change and to call with my plan was going to cost me .25c/minute (not a killer, but its principal at this point). After attempting to figure things out for a minute, a very nice employee of Thon came out and asked if we had been a scheduled guest....yep. So I went inside and we did the dance where I explained I hadn't been contacted and she finally admitted that '...certain phone numbers or emails for people from outside of Norway didn't get thru and we didn't know which ones.'.....WHAT? So we finally figure out where my family and I are supposed to be, while it is still in town, it is not where we wanted to be for what we wanted to see in 36 hours. No compensation, no offer to make good (although I will say we talked to another guest and they were made to pay for a night on their own somewhere else until a room was ready for them the next day). Anyway, we finally drive over to the other Thon property (Thon Hotel Slottspark)....they have no parking onsite. The front desk person can't understand why this matters and can't really explain where it is. When I express my frustration with the overall Thon situation to him in a very calm manner, he states, '...that isn't my fault or problem.' Well, my family had nowhere else to stay, so we had to take this place. I finally park the car about 1km away, we get in the room and there is no room by room AC, it is one central for the entire building (from our understanding, another something that Panorama had and this one doesn't). We can't open the windows to air it out get some cooler air in as we have scaffolding outside of our windows as well, so you are stuck with the temperature you have. Not completely a strange thing for a hotel, but still that is why I booked Panorama and not the one they sent me to. Needless to say, this would be a 0 star if it could, but it has to have something. Overall, Thon Hotels will never again get money from me as this was screwed up in a massive way and there has been no

Perfect hotel for Oslo City Break. Basic 4 star hotel, clean rooms, outstanding view( 12 th floor room 1203 ) very friendly and helpful staff, great location. Breakfast is more than satisfactory, fresh food and many choices for every kind. Free coffe and tea( in the lobby ) all day long, on site or to go choices. Walking distance to all points of interest. Thon Panorama caters for both long term and short term stays. Most rooms contain cooking facilities, this is excellent. The hotel is in a prime location in the center of Oslo close to all facilities and transport.

Central hotel located in quiet area, almost empty but close to more lively areas. The name of the hotel is misleading because unless you book a bussines room you will not have views, perhaps to a wall or with a bit of luck to another building. according to them there are no standard rooms above the sixth floor. Pros. comfortable and wide bed. kitchen with fridge and microwave. small terrace. sofa in front of TV. Helpful recepción staff Good breakfast and disponible coffe in living. Cons. No views or panorama. Shower with screen that lets out water flooding. No air conditioning. They do not clean rooms or change towels on sundays despiste the COViD situation thats requires extreme cleaning. Gel and soap in bulk do not comb or toothbrush or another amenities. Computer in reception without internet. PD: If you sign as a Thon hotels member you will have a discount.

Hotel in una buona posizione per visitare il centro e le attrazioni principali di Oslo. A dieci minuti a piedi dalla stazione e dal Munch. Personale cortese e gentile, buon inglese e disponibile ad a venire in contro agli ospiti (check in anticipato se possibile, mappa di Oslo etc..). Stanze pulite e confortevoli molto spartane. Avendo avuto un free upgrade ci e stata data una stanza al nono piano, non abbiamo avuto problemi di rumore. In stanza era presente anche una piccola cucina comoda se ci si ferma per più tempo. Biancheria pulita e letto comodo. Vista sulla città. Colazione ampia e buona, disponibile a orario presto sopratutto durante la settimana (6:30 AM giorni feriali e 7:30AM sabato e domenica). Bagno pulito ma molto piccolo ed essenziale.
