One of the reasons we chose this hotel was that the website advertises a lot of sports and activities on site, which we knew we would need because we were traveling with two kids during the rainy season. However, the website description does not match reality, and by far. The photos were probably taken a few years ago, the place is now pretty run down. The pool was dirty, the library was closed but someone got the keys for us: it was equally dirty, dark, smelled humidity, in short, not functional. The badminton, same: run down, grass overgrown, not really usable anymore. None of the other activities advertised really existed (no gym, squash, etc). The personnel was nice enough, just absent most of the time, and they were really not very helpful when we asked questions about restaurants, taxis, excursions, etc. The rooms themselves were borderline ok, though very dark (only one window for a large bedroom) and humid; there were also ants in the rooms, and the hot water did not work (or, more precisely, it did work one out of three days, but you had to chose between boiling hot or cold, as opening one would set the other off; it did not work at all the other 2 days). The mosquito nets did not fit well the beds, so they let the mosquitos in anyways. The vents were not nearly enough to make the air flow in the rooms, and they were very noisy. There were some noisy neighbors who walked around our rooms late at night, it did not feel private at all. Finally, the access to the beach was not far, but you have to cross an abandoned camp to get to it, so it is pretty dirty and you want to know where to go the first time you do it. I would say there were only two positives for this hotel: the restaurant, which served ok food for pretty reasonable price; and second the fact that when we wanted out, the owner (or whoever we talked to on the phone, we never met him and understanding who actually runs the place is not obvious) was nice enough to make a deal so that we could leave before the end of the reservation without paying full price (though we did pay way more than what this place is worth). In sum, a run down place that does not match the website description and is overpriced for what it is; we are not coming back here.
