Sandaway Suites & Beach

This place is special! We could not be more pleased with our room and the property overall. It's older but has a lot of character and is extremely clean with everything seemingly in working order. We would pay the nightly rate just for the chance to sit on the grounds overlooking the water. Scenery is breathtaking!

This was a lovely place to stay in a magical location in Oxford, MD. It is a very old building however, so the facility has old inn quirks. Floors are not necessarily level, etc. But oozing in charm so I didn't care. Staff couldn't have been nicer.

The Sandaway may have charm and character because of its age. But it is nothing more than run down and dirty. The Sandaway has a very musty smell. I have stayed at many old Inn’s by the water that have charm and character. Most of them have been modernized yet keeping with the character, charm, and age of the house/Inn – and they do not smell like The Sandaway does. The decor needs to be changed. There are many ways to modernize this Inn and keep its charm. Light and airy is way more romantic than the dark paneled and wall papered walls. 3D ducks on a picture are nothing more than a dust collector – as this picture was in our room; not to mention it felt like something that belonged in a hunter’s lodge. Everything was dusty, including the entry and stairways. There were cobwebs on the stairway leading up to our room. I had to reach behind our bed to plug in my charger only to discover all the dust hanging on the walls and trim. I took the blow-dryer out of the case. It was corroded with other people’s hair products, making it extremely sticky and gross; not to mention the other person’s hair that was stuck to the blow dryer. It was absolutely disgusting. The dirt in the corners of the shower and flooring was unacceptable. There were also a couple of items that were out of place that are not in keeping with the elegance that this Inn should have had. An empty Costco box sat on the front steps for two days. There was an unused planter upstairs that was folded up and leaning against the wall. If it’s not being used, put it away. The rooms are overpriced compared to similar Inns in tourist locations. For the amount of money we paid for this room, I am shocked that they haven’t done more updates to the Inn and the rooms; nor are they paying for decent staff to care about the cleanliness of the room. We did not get the feeling that someone cares about and loves this place. The good: the room from the balcony was good, the balcony was cleaner than our room, we were provided with a nice assortment of teas/snacks and chairs along the beach were nice to sit on by the water, We would not stay here again, nor would we recommend it to anyone.

The grounds of Sandaway Suites are beautiful but my small cabin was seedy and dark. I had no view of the bay due to a massif tree which blocked the view. The wall paper from the 40's did not add to the charm. Entrance to cabin was the bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub and toilets. Not what I wanted to see when I walked in! Very Disappointed with value.

Peaceful and very relaxing (do nothing). Just sit outside near the lake, enjoy the sunshine and do some reading and talking. Go to nearby St, Michaels or Easton for some nice restaurants.

Here's a place where you really can do nothing but watch the sailboats go by and read or daydream under truly towering sycamore trees, with no noise, no pickleball, no jetskis, no planes overhead, and - if you want - no people. Just comfortable chairs and chaises scattered on the green lawn, the sound of the water lapping the shore, and the breeze in the leaves. Heaven! Get one of the rooms with a screened porch and all of the above is yours without even having to get out of your pj's. The town is quiet and small with beautiful houses and gardens to stroll and peek at. The Robert Morris Inn has excellent food. Easton and St. Michael's offer the proverbial fine dining and shopping. The ferry is fun and right at the end of the street. We've been celebrating our anniversary here for years and have never wanted to change.
