Hotel Rosalia

Not a great hotel. Location is poor, upkeep is not great and gives you the feeling you might catch bed bugs. There are no plugs beside the beds which is really inconvenient. The couch had a nasty stain whose history I wouldn’t want to know and in general my wife was unhappy. But there was a TV in the room and the sheets were clean. It feels like it was built in the 70s and never been freshened up

The hotel is a kilometre walk out of Padron and beside the railway station. There’s no air conditioning in the twin room I stayed in but there was a fan. A grubby shower curtain , had to ask for more than one towel and floor not swept( I trod on on someone’s else’s toenail !) Receptionist surly on arrival.

This hotel was nice. Just a 1km walk outside of Padron. Like a lot of hotels on the camino the kitchen closes between 3.30pm and 7.45pm which is disappointing after a long walk. The room was spacious and our bathroom was very spacious. No noise at all at night even though we were looking out onto the railway track. Breakfast was ok but no gf options for my husband which is the norm in most places.

Good clean hotel with nice staff. Food for dinner was excellent and breakfast was good. Although people said it was hard to find, it is signposted and right opposite the train track and next to the museum. Easy to get back onto the way from the hotel.

This hotel doesn’t look like much on the photos but it was much better than we had anticipated. I think the rooms might have been renovated recently and they were a lot more comfortable than we thought they would be. Stayed here for one night whilst hiking the Camino and it was perfectly comfortable. The hotel is right next to the train station however you honestly don’t notice the trains at all. I don’t know if we got luckily but there weren’t many trains. The shower was very odd, it’s above the bath which is fine but placed right in the centre facing outward so water just goes everywhere. Unfortunately the food was the worst part of this hotel and the worst we had experienced on the Camino. It’s a bit of a walk into town and after a full day hiking in the rain we were so relieved when the hotel said they provided food, however… initially we were told we could eat in the newly renovated bar which was nice and warm but then we were moved to the restaurant next door. This was fine except the restaurant is quite run down and absolutely freezing! We ate dinner in our jackets and coats it was that cold. There wasn’t much choice of food, you could pick a starter, main and dessert but a drink wasn’t included and drinks had to be collected from the bar. Between 4 of us we’d ordered chicken, beef and cod. There seemed to be a lot of complaints from other guests about the chicken as were weren’t sure it actually was chicken. The food on the whole was flavourless, the cod wasn’t cooked properly and was served with three tiny, very watery potatoes. The breakfast was also the worst we’d had and the drinks were the most expensive we had on our Camino. Definitely wouldn’t return or would go out to eat if I did.

I landed up enjoying staying here more than I thought I would. It is in a strange location quite far out of town and off the Camino trail where I finished that day. It is on the side of a railway track with trains coming by regularly in the day. This proved quite novel in the end and the trains do not seem to come past all night long. The restaurant area downstairs was very nice and modernly decorated. The diner was great - wholesome good food. The service was very good from the restaurant and from reception. The room was nice and spacious and had a mobile aircon. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom small but it felt new and clean. I wouldn't go back to Padron but this turned out better than I thought it would for staying there!
