This is the best stay I’ve ever stayed It’s a family run pension with two super friendly golden retrievers, the whole house is newly built, extremely clean, and decorated with good taste The dinner and breakfast are western- Japanese fusion, everything is homemade, definitely worth trying There is a nice and clean private onsen, or you can take a bus to have a day trip to other bigger onsen Minakami itself is a countryside area, and the pension is right next to the bus station There is literally nothing around the stay, so you need to get everything you need in Minakami station, but I think it’s a characteristic rather than disadvantage

Upon our arrival, we're greeted with great staff members, who take our shoes and away and provide us slippers to wear during our entire stay. The dinner was exquisitely served as a big course composed of various several side dishes and main items. We were just blown away. So we came back to the room after dinner to find out that the futon beds, Japanese style mattress & beds, were set up for us to relax and sleep. The breakfast is just a bit less sophisticated but still much more than we could eat, yet impressive for us in terms of the effort required to make them. Same with upon our departure, our shoes are placed back at the lobby orientated readily for us to wear. It just shows Japanese highly attentive level of detail in terms of hospitality. Although the location is its downside, even if you don't have a rental car, I still highly recommend it if you can find a way there.

C'est notre deuxième séjour dans cet hôtel depuis 2019. Aujourd'hui, la plupart des serveurs sont originaires d'Asie du Sud-Est, à l'exception du personnel de direction, majoritairement composé d'étrangers. Le décor est toujours aussi beau, mais l'expérience est bien pire qu'avant. Les plats ne sont pas servis à leur place et sont en désordre. C'est le pire hôtel thermal où j'ai séjourné depuis plus de dix ans. Le plus exagéré, c'est que 50 000 yens ont disparu de notre sac pendant les plus d'une heure que nous avons passées à dîner (le sac était dans la valise, et celle-ci n'était pas fermée à clé). C'est la première fois que je constate un tel problème au Japon.

Le petit déjeuner et le dîner sont similaires à un bon repas, des aliments délicieux pour chaque repas. La chambre est propre avec un ustensile aussi. Et l'atmosphère est très bonne Si vous revenez ici, vous resterez ici encore Si vous revenez un mois de neige, il devrait être très bon.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay! We truly loved it and had a wonderful night surrounded by serene nature. The view was absolutely beautiful — the lake is just right in front of the hotel! The place is spotless and very well maintained. But what truly made our stay special was the incredible staff. A big shoutout to Mr. Ozu, the General Manager, for going the extra mile with his thoughtfulness! When he learned that we were heading to the ropeway the next day (and that there were no bus trips on weekdays), he kindly offered us a ride. He was also genuinely concerned about our hike and overall safety — so heartwarming! Since we didn’t get the dinner package and there was only one restaurant nearby that closed at 4 p.m., we decided to get a takeout for dinner. My friend also asked if there was a nearby café to buy a cake for my birthday, but there wasn’t any. Later that evening, after we came back from the onsen, someone knocked on our door and surprised us with a complimentary cake! They said it was because we didn’t have dinner and they wanted to celebrate my birthday. Awwww! Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture! 🎂💖 In the morning, Mr. Ozu even gave us taxi numbers and the bus schedule for Yumoto Onsen, making sure our travel plans went smoothly. Truly amazing hospitality — we felt so cared for and appreciated throughout our stay! 🌿✨

Nice staff. Good room. Location is a bit far from things but good for quiet environment. Driving is a must. The food, good but not as good as some other places we were in before. Recommend to try especially if in the area.

Really liked this place. I stayed in the Japanese style room which was so nicely put together. It had a view of the river and mountains (when the clouds and rain weren't there). What I absolutely loved was the outside Onsen with sauna and plunge pool which I had to myself both nights I stayed. It was such a magical experience being out there in the rain. It's about 20 mins walk from Minakami station but I believe there's a bus stop just puts de the hotel if you have too much luggage. There's very few restraints around and they all seem to close by 4pm so be warned 😊

Tant de petites choses qui font cet hôtel beaucoup mieux que tout autre. La façon dont ils vous montrent à votre chambre, la façon dont ils vous mettent vos chaussures et les ramenent à votre date de départ, la façon dont le dîner et le petit déjeuner vous attend à votre table privée, la façon dont ils laissent les couples partager une rencontre pendant des heures de repos. Le personnel et toujours là, vous vous occupez de vous de manière subtile, mais vous ne vous sentez jamais regardés ou intrudés. Ce type de service invisible - peut-être difficile pour les occidentaux de comprendre, mais il est excellent. Vous serez vraiment bien compris et soigné. Très recommandé. Meilleur service hôtelier que j'ai eu au Japon depuis 2 ans. Très recommandé.

Our visit to this hotel was perfectly adequate. The traditional setting provided a nice sense of atmosphere, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The onsen facilities themselves were clean and relaxing, meeting our expectations for a hot spring experience. Our room was spacious, but the amenities felt a little dated and could use some refreshment. Dinner and breakfast were included, offering a standard array of Japanese cuisine that was palatable, though not exceptional. The staff were polite. Overall, it's a safe and decent choice if you're looking for a no-frills, standard onsen hotel experience.

Le dîner et le petit-déjeuner sont auto-assistants, donc je suis heureux que les enfants puissent choisir ce qu'ils aiment. Je suis heureux que tous les végétariens soient faciles à manger. Tout d'abord, chaque repas est très délicieux, je dis à ma famille que je veux aller encore une fois. Les enfants sont heureux. Il est aussi attrayant de prendre un bain 24 heures. Je veux vraiment y aller une fois de plus.
