IInvitéThis really is a 10/10 place. My husband and my favourite place we’ve stayed, this trip to Thailand. We’ve already decided we want to come back, with friends, next time.
We wanted a place to cut our drive to Bangkok and had no idea Sarat Thani and the surrounding area had so much to offer.
Mr. Pongsak, the owner, could not be more lovely. He is so thoughtful and invested in making sure everyone who stays has the best experience and shares his knowledge of the area and all the things there are to do and see.
We drove a rented car, and found it sooooo peaceful and relaxing to be there. And so close to get to town, markets and lots of yummy foods.
We cannot wait to share this gem with friends and try the other cabins. The pond with all its fish is a gorgeous water feature too.
They opened in 2025 and are building a third cabin. They are modern and still so charming and relaxing.
Cannot wait til we can return on our next trip.
My only concern is that it is such a great spot and is going to be so popular, we will need to book well in advance next time!

SSlocumNothing to shout about, average hotel.. don't be taken away about the area.. Total include the balcony for Aircon Compressor.. Toilet a little small.. compared to others, I feel.. space constraint causes uneasiness walking from Dry to wet area and back.. Toilet ceiling paint will fall off soon.. due to moisture... Found moth on bed.. All this may not be critical for me... Short term staying.. hotel management need to seriously look into long term Pre maintenance programe... The have free for all coffee and Tea.. thru the day.... Though, I never use them... Not my choice, with Freeze instance coffee... Others may like it...There is a 7 eleven just around the corner.. Main Road Don Sak.quite a few local eatery, plus a local run cheap Tonkatsu Restaurant..Pass by nightly, not busy..only foreigner eating there. Not a busy joint, few tables occupied ..because I stayed in Japan for almost 1 year. Nothing or no where else is close to original Japan taste.......Location to walk to Main busy Road Like Talat Mai or Namueang Rd. maybe 1-1.5 km away.. Tuk Tuk are plentiful and inexpensive..

“In the center of Surat Thani, where crossroads pulse with traffic and neon flickers like tired stars, stands CBD Hotel—a place that waits for travelers who are always on their way somewhere else.
Around it, the city breathes commerce: food stalls, markets, bus stations. From here, you can walk to the Seatrans bus terminal, and soon after find yourself boarding a ferry to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. You can wander to the agricultural market, where local trucks carry passengers to Phunphin railway station. Every path from this corner leads somewhere further, as if the city itself is designed for departures.
Parking, often a worry in the center of a restless town, is solved here. Behind the hotel, a wide lot waits—easy to enter, easy to leave, as if movement were always part of the plan.
The lobby never sleeps. Staff at the desk watch the night pass with quiet patience. A small elevator, unassuming, carries you to rooms that are wide and clean. At the entrance, a wardrobe stands for shirts, bags, forgotten stories.
The window is large—generous with light in the day, but not always generous with silence. If your room faces the street, the sound of passing cars may slip through. Yet by night, the city softens. The roads empty, and stillness returns, like an old friend.
The bathroom is spacious, the water strong and insistent. Not new, but cared for, like something that understands its role. The bed is soft, the air conditioner steady, the space around it wide enough that you never feel trapped.
This is a hotel for pauses, not destinations. For the traveler between islands, between parties, between versions of themselves. Affordable, reliable, unpretentious.
Sometimes, the most valuable comfort is not in what is offered, but in what is quietly promised.”

IInvitéThe staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice.
There appeared to be no hot water in my room, however, it turned out I needed to leave the water running for 10 minutes for it to get warm. I would recommend telling guests this, as I had to have a cold shower on the first day at 5:30 am.

La réception de la télévision était mauvaise : je pouvais regarder la télévision pendant deux secondes, puis je devais attendre dix minutes pour que le signal revienne.

Le seul problème c'était la fenêtre non occultante au dessus de la porte car lumière toute la nuit dans le couloir et obligé de mettre des caches sur les yeux pour dormir !

The Wang Tai Hotel feels like a grand dame from a bygone era. Walking into the lobby, you can see it was once a truly luxurious place, and that sense of scale and history is still there. However, it's clear the hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. While everything is clean, the decor and some furnishings feel a little tired and dated.
That minor point aside, our stay was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, always going out of their way to assist us.
The breakfast, however, was a wonderful and unexpected highlight! Instead of a standard buffet, it's ordered a la carte from a menu. Don't let that worry you the range is huge, covering both Thai and Western options. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. It felt more like a restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast.
The large swimming pool is a major plus – perfect for a refreshing dip and lounging in the sun. The location is also very good, making it a convenient base for exploring Surat Thani.
In summary, if you can look past the slightly worn edges, The Wang Tai Hotel offers incredible value, spearheaded by a stellar breakfast, great pool, and excellent service. A little refurbishment would easily make this a 5-star experience again.

IInvitéA very reasonably priced hotel with clean and comfy room and small balcony. The location is just over the bridge the other side from the main town but it is quite peaceful and very easy to access the night markets. I would recommend renting a moped or even a bicycle would be fine. If you visit, walk down to the waterfront near the crossroads bar and you might see a big monitor lizard in the tree. Also I recommend a little trip to Koh Lamphu which is a little island you can go around on foot or bicycle. Next to the entrance there is a little food market which opens at night. A perfect way to experience a bit of local Thai life.
