We stayed with family (2 adults and 2 children) for 2 nights in Dec 2021. Hotel is located in Mettlach which is a Headquarters of world-famous porcelain/crystal manufacturer Villeroy&Boch. So no wonders that hotel itself is a castle built in 1902 as the residence of the Boch family combining late gothic and renaissance elements, which was turned into hotel in 1950s. December is very nice time to stay as hotel is nicely decorated for Christmas with V&B figurines which you can find all over the place. Castle stands in the huge park just opposite V&B Headquarters located in ex-Monastery on the other bank of the Saar river. When you enter you immediately can see nice main staircase leading you to the gorgeous Lobby with fireplace and plush sofas. Hotel has 22 rooms and all they are completely different - only having one thing in common - all Bathroom furniture/fittings and even tiles are from V&B :) Our family are great fans of V&B brand so no wonders when we became aware of the existence of such place we decided to stay here and we were not disappointed. Place is really beautiful with a lot of ambience and all world charm. Rooms are tastefully decorated and one can choose between different styles. All rooms have their own names. We stayed in Santos room (which is one of their 2 Junior Suites and the only 2 room Suite they have), which we liked as it also did fit our family of 4 very well. It has quite big bathroom and nice 5 windows overlooking park and partially river. At the same time, we were lucky enough as on the day of our check-out we were leaving hotel last and no rooms were booked for next day so I did manage to see all rooms i wanted - briefly - Cannes is probably the biggest of Deluxe rooms, definitely one with best views as has very large windows overlooking river), London and Berlin are equally nice with same views, and Nice also has small balcony overlooking river, however all those 3 has smaller windows. Aureus - is probably the best in terms of ambience (views though are not so nice), finally Nanking is romantic Junior Suite with biggest and nicest bathroom and huge windows (overlooking though side opposite to river :) , beware though this is the only room which doesn't have shower only big free standing bath. Worth mentioning that although hotel has small elevator it can be used only for luggage, guests will need to use stairs to come to their rooms - which in my opinion only adds to the nice castle atmosphere, however worth noting for those with limited abilities. Room rate always includes breakfast which is served in very 2 very beautiful castle rooms and of course using V&B dinnerware :) Breakfast is excellent with wide variety of high-quality products. We also did have 2 dinners in the hotel - as on both evenings there were several parties (incl 1 wedding and several pre-Christmas parties) we did eat in separate dining rooms -which was also very intimate and nice experience. Food was excellent! Staff is very friendly and
