While “stuck” in Vietnam for a couple years during the border closure, we visited Phu Quoc many times. We made a hobby of staying in different hotels around the island, but we ALWAYS ended up booking at least a night or two at Gold Coast. It’s a bit off the beaten path, up in the NW area of Ganh Dau. The oceanfront bungalows are lovely and comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the hotel property is beautifully decorated and maintained. Most importantly, the restaurant is SO GOOD! We were always pleasantly surprised by the quality of every dish. The coffee, cocktail, and beverage menu is also amazing. I was pregnant during my most recent visit, and the variety of non-alcoholic drink options were a dream. Only removed a star because during our most recent visit (Sept 2022) the property next door was under renovation, and the workers were loud during the day, threw trash in the ocean, and did loud karaoke every night which we could hear in our room (yes, construction, trash, and karaoke are everywhere in Vietnam, but Gold Coast provided a respite from most of that during our previous visits). Thankfully renovations are temporary, and I’d recommend staying there either way.

This place was a piece of heaven for three days R&R. The weather was perfect and the water was calm and clear. We were looking for somewhere to stay and not do much so we wanted to stay at the resort the whole time and not get out and about. So, I have nothing but praise for this resort as it kept me happy without the need to leave. Here are some highlights: Beach front bungalow - if your budget allows please get the beachfront accommodation. Nothing beats having just a little stretch of sand between you and the water. The happy hour cocktails - amazing and well made. I wish happy hour would start earlier at 5pm instead of 6. The pool - you've got the sea but you also have this amazing pool. It is big, it has a little slide for littlies, they have inflatable things for kids and big kids to float around on, also it is sheltered from sea breezes so is comfortable even when the beach front is a bit windy (which isn't always). The beach - I'm not a sea person Nd generally hate beaches. So this is not a beach for surfers and beachy people. This is a beach for people who just want to be able to paddle around and wallow in the shallows without getting slammed by waves. Things to do - they have kayaks and a pedal (remember them!) just lying around for anyone to use. Life jackets are available if going out deeper. I paddled around near shore on both and loved it. They also have snorkelling gear too. I hear they have bikes too but that was all a bit too much work for me. My husband and son went out for a ride and enjoyed it. Food - they had enough good food on offer to keep me happy for a few days. There was a wide variety and the food was well prepared. The staff - perhaps that should have been the first plus. They were all so lovely and helpful. The tables out by the beach have little buzzers to "summon" someone to come wait on you. I felt so bad making them come scurrying out over the sand to take my order but they always came quickly and were so helpful. I researched this a fair bit before choosing this resort so I hope this helps someone else like me. Value for money is absolutely without doubt. The island of Phu Quoc doesn't really impress me (not that I actually got out and looked at it properly) but this place definitely impressed and I woukd come back just to stay here again.
