Set back from the main road, this family run hotel is a find! It may not look much when you approach it from the road, but inside it has spacious comfortable rooms. The pictures on the web are realistic. And set back from the road it is quiet. While the rooms are air-conditioned, there are amazing sea (day) and land (evening) breezes - which make sitting on your balcony after a day at the beach really pleasant. Especially if you are on one of the upper floors. The building looks as though it has been designed for a lift, but it has not been installed yet. If you are elderly, or infirm, ask for a lower floor. The pool is essentially a 'plunge pool' to dunk yourself in, but with beach about 200m away that is all you need. (In our opinion Kamala is probably the best beach on the island, developed but not overly so. It has a gradual sloping shelf and plenty of natural shade from palm trees along the top. There are plenty of loungers too if you want them A good US/British breakfast with eggs, toast, coffee is available downstairs, but after the first day we had Thai style (congee) breakfast or fresh fruit (mango, passion fruit, rambutan, bananas, grapes, coconut, mangosteen- you name it is available at a stall near by). Being only about 100m from the main road (but far enough off it!!!), the hotel is convenient for the Phuket Smart Bus service. You can catch this from the airport and there is a 'flat fare' of 100Baht per (person per) trip. (If you are on the island for longer you can buy a multi-day pass, see the PHUKET SMART BUS website). We saw being half way between the beach and the main road as being a plus point. We got away from the beach to avoid the afternoon heat and then went back an hour before sunset. There are good eating joints - both on the beach front and along the main road, plus there is the market opposite the "Big C". Our stay was fantastic, Ariya (called Ai, as in 'eye') runs the place, is extremely helpful and a mine of information. Well worth the price and will be back in the no too distant future.
