Crown Hotel

Hotel by the harbour. Shares the problem with all accommodation here in that it is noisy, rooms with a sea view pick up sounds from the outdoor seating and any traffic, motorcycle gatherings are very disruptive. Our room, the loft, was under the sloping roof. Small but big enough for a couple of days, great view. But one person in the double bed will definitely be banging their head on the sloping roof. Excellent bathroom. Okay, generous size breakfast but selection outside of hot dish very limited. But why I wouldn’t return? This is an old building on 3 levels without an alternative fire exit from the bedrooms other than the front door. So, in accordance with fire regulations it relies on fire doors to protect the rooms. However we found 2 doors on the way to our room, clearly marked ‘Fire door, keep shut’ kept open, one with a wooden chock. I closed them only to find them reopened.

We stopped by for our dinner....we sat outside as the weather was lovely...beautifully cooked salmon meal from the specials menu...then apple crumble ...it was very busy with tourists and locals but service was quick with a friendly ambience xx

Great stay for one night with my step sister, had rooms one and two, clean, warm, comfortable, tea and coffee, and superb breakfast. Having stayed at both other hotels left and right of The Crown this wins. Weather awful so sat by the fire for a drink in the afternoon, dinner was outstanding as were the staff.

The food is mediocre at best, as others have stated, it’s not fresh and at £19 a meal expensive. Even worse is the barman, incredibly rude and curt to the point of being offensive. He has zero social skills and shouldn’t be behind a bar. Avoid as there are alternatives a stones throw away.

The Crown is a little gem, we stayed for 3 nights and eat there each evening. The food and staff were excellent and the hotel and bedrooms very clean. The atmosphere in the pub part is great with a mixture of locals and holidaymakers. Will definitely be back.
