First thing to say is don’t judge a book by its cover . Having had a most disappointing stay elsewhere the previous night my heart sank a bit as I pulled up . The parking is at the rear of the hotel which lacks curb appeal . However once inside a warm welcome awaits . I was given a tour showing me where the residents lounge , dining room , gardens were before going to my room . My room was large , freshly decorated and spotless . If I was being picky the curtains don’t close easily & the shower pressure was low however perfectly adequate . But I was perfectly happy here , it was very quiet & I had a good nights sleep . The restaurant is a very good size so not over crowded , it is bright & overlooks the beautiful bay. The menu was modest in size but I’d rather a be offered a small well thought out offering that is well executed than a promise of cuisines from all over the globe that they don’t have a hope in hells chance of landing well . The home made pizzas were very popular , there are some pizzas suggested but also the opportunity to build your own . They were very good & all diners looked to be pleased with their food. Breakfast was either cooked ( vegetarian or Scottish ) or porridge , toast cereal were also available - you are requested to pre order the evening before .There is a residents lounge where you can sit & read / play puzzles etc which was nice as I don’t always just want to sit in my room. If I had been travelling with my other half I would have liked a bar to have a pre or post dinner drink so if there is a space that could be converted that would be a great addition & another revenue stream. This is a really nice place to stay , friendly and great value & I would have no hesitation in recommending .
