Karoo View Cottages

Karoo View Cottages are a great place to stay on the edge of the Great Karoo and at the foot of the Swartberg Pass . very rustic but also very comfortable. Howard the owner is very easy going and friendly. your own wood fired hot tub outside. when the restaurant is open you must go , terrific wood fired braai options of Karoo lamb and fish. I highly recommend it.

We booked for 2 nights and stayed for 1. Room was like the pictures and description so can’t complain about that. When evening fell we noticed the first cockroaches crawling trough the kitchen. When we contacted the host he first said that he wasn’t aware of any cockroaches but please spray them. He later offered us to change the room which we declined. In my quest to spray the cockroaches I found I also found other dead bugs already lying under kitchen equipment. The next morning we decided to check out. Since checking out was only by leaving the key in the room we contacted the host that we were checking out. He replied with a question mark and “are you leaving a day early.” After we replied “yes” we never heard from him again. So I assume that for this place/host it is more normal than it is for us when guests are leaving early.

Spacious, clean and well equipped house, very good service, great communication, heartly recommended.

Semi-detached cottage, extremely comfortable, great view of the Karoo from the covered stoep. Well equipped all round with ceiling fan, aircon and log fire and all the necessary utensils. Highly recommended. Howard extremely helpful with a great knowledge of the area. Brilliant

If you are traveling through the Karoo, then try this establishment. Very neat and clean accommodation.

The house is gorgeous- even better than the website photos. The host provided a list activities and pet friendly restaurants which we found excellent.
