I heard many good things about Portopiccolo from friends, so I wanted to check it out. Well, I guess we have different tastes, because I find this place boring. It is beautifully built and impressive the first minute you step through the entrance. Soon after you realize it's a playground for wealthier peeps. It seemed deserted and kind of like a band that are techically and visually great, but music gets mundane second song in. I guess they wanted to mimmick southern italian seaside villages, but they weren't able to recreate the soul of those. I guess it will take time, but considering this place is a weekend getaway for the wealthy crowd, it will never feel genuine like a real town would. There are a few shops here and there, but most storefronts are deserted. I visited in march, so maybe it's more lively in summer. Parking can bea challenge, so visit early. There are many better locations in the vicinity to spend your day. My .02 cents.
