Akti Chara Hotel

A little update/facelift in rooms would make a big difference. Location is great and the beach is beautiful. No complaints of the pool area, clean and spacious. Many restaurants and shops close by. Bus to Rethymno goes from the main street just in front of the hotel and tickets can be bought from the reception.

we stayed for a week at this hotel bought and paid for through apollo. The hotel had been sold to us as being a 4 star hotel. Which it certainly isn't. Neither according to us nor when you directly ask the reception. The room was worn and the small tea kitchen in the room lacks equipment for cooking. The hotel room was so loud we could hear everything and everyone in the rooms next door and in the corridor in the morning, which meant we got very little rest and sleep. In addition, there was loud music from the neighboring hotel by the pool, which ruined one's relaxation. It was not possible to use sunbeds at the beach despite the fact that the hotel is right down to the beach and in addition there was a general lack of service from the staff. During the week we were there, we were only cleaned and the towels changed once, otherwise you would have to pay extra for this. The food in the snack bar was edible but far from good or worth the money and it was generally expensive in the snack bar for food, ice cream and drinks. Will not visit this hotel again or recommend it to others.
