Lovely B&B for our 3 night stay in Richmond. Jennifer was the perfect host. A lovely breakfast to start the day with lots of choices ( ordered the previous evening) plenty of variety of drinks in our room with even decaf and milk alternatives. Fresh milk also provided in a fridge just outside our room. Would definitely recommend.

A lovely place to stay in Richmond. Comfy rooms, hearty breakfast and a really warm, friendly and helpful host. It's well located, being close to the town centre. There's good free parking too.

Great little b&b, room was ideal, massive bed with lovely clean white linen, tea & coffee facilities including oat milk and some fresh milk in a fridge upstairs if you required it. Large bathroom with walk in shower and toiletries. Breakfast is pre ordered, not a problem, we had scrambled egg on toast and a large full English breakfast, both were delicious. Fruit, cereals and yogurt also on offer. The coffee came in a pot so it kept hot. There’s parking on the road outside and also round the back. Jennifer is a lovely host and you can tell she’s passionate about her business, would definitely stay again.

Beautiful place and surroundings. Was aloud to check in early. Private parking included in the room price. Bedroom was fantastic with beautiful shower . Massive ceiling fan which was a plus. The host were very welcoming and the location was central to all the goings on. Loved it 10/10 David and Carrie Leeds.

We stayed one night on our way north. The owners were very friendly and keen to make sure we were comfortable. We had a room overlooking the cobbled Frenchgate street, and it was lovely to hear the church clock chiming although it stopped from 2200 to 0800. Very quiet, no through traffic. Bed was a super king size. Everything was very clean, bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was relaxed in the downstairs dining room, and with a full and generous menu. I had smoked salmon with scrambled egg. There was a choice of croissants, fruit juices, cereal and muesli too as well as full cooked breakfast, including vegetarian. Parking in their private car park behind Frenchgate. An easy walk into the town and along the river to the Station where we had pizzas for the price of two for one.

Just spent the night in room No4 on a surprise visit with my wife. Lovely room with probably the widest bath I've ever seen in a hotel room. Excellent cooked breakfast, free parking outside, great location, a short walk from the centre of the town and best of all the perfect friendly host in Jennifer who couldn't do enough for her quests, definitely recommend.

This little hotel is charming and well suited to the village of Richmond. A hearty English or American breakfast is served each morning, along with smaller options. The food and happy service is excellent. A lovely garden in the back filled with flowers and bird calls each evening tops off a day wandering castle and abbey ruins or exploring the nearby market square. Cocktails in the garden anyone? David Todd, Proprietor, is the man that makes this hotel really stand out. He is funny, kind and generous with his knowledge of the village and his excellent martinis! It is a small property, but abundant with personal comforts. I highly recommend Frenchgate!

Lovely hotel with original features. Luxury features throughout. Mattress the best I have slept on in a hotel. Staff were amazing. David the owner was so funny and knowledgeable. Giving us recommendations for places to eat and see. Felt like we were family visiting. Great stay. Would recommend
