Five Rooms Rome Guesthouse

My wife and I spend a lot of time on Tripadvisor before we book anything, so we are rarely disappointed, This place is compact and a little hard to find (which is why we took a shuttle from the airport, knowing they would know where to take us). This place is 10 minutes' walk in one direction to the Colliseum and ten minutes' walk in the other direction to the Trevi Fountain. I honestly don't believe there is a better option if you are looking at visiting Rome's attractions. Hopefully you will enjoy your time here as much as we did!

While the location of this apartment (the Veneto Prestige Apartment) was perfect for anyone visiting Rome, it unfortunately fell far below our expectations in every other respect. There was a pervasive ingrained odour of smoke/pets throughout the apartment. The bedding and decor was generally of a poor standard and it reminded me of a basic student apartment, minus any personality, charm or comfort. It will potentially suit people who are travelling in a large group and who are looking for a relative bargain on a per head basis. We booked it as while it was roughly the same price as a hotel room, we were happy to find somewhere that offered a little more space. However, it was so unpleasant to be in that we spent as little time there as possible. Everything we packed in our luggage has had to be laundered on our arrival home to get rid of the unpleasant smell. Definitely not a 4-star option and if we had our time again, I would choose a hotel every time.

The most important thing to know when booking here is that they have more than one location, and that is NOT clear! We arrived at the central Rome location after a long flight from the US, only to be informed that our booking was for their other location, a twenty minute cab ride outside Rome! Ugh. I booked this hotel from the airport in the US just minutes before flying out, and on their initial email confirmation, there was no mention of an address and no indication that we'd booked a different location. So, just a heads up! They fortunately had a room for us in the location we'd arrived at, but at a significant price increase. Honestly, had they just allowed us to stay in the open room at the price we paid for the other room or had it been more clearly my fault, I would have given them more stars. But, given the fact that it was nearly impossible to know I was booking a different location, I imagine this happens all the time. The hotel is located on the 4th floor of what feels like an office building--it is not your typical hotel setting. The elevator is TINY and old, just fyi! The lobby of the hotel feels like a cave with no windows. The room itself was fine; fairly clean except for the prior tenant's old band-aid left on the bathroom floor and a bit of mold at the base of the shower. The beds are VERY hard and the odor of their cleaning supplies used in the bathroom lingered all night. The best part about this hotel is the location, for sure. It is very close to the Monti area and a ten-minute walk to Trevi. The room we had (#1) was very quiet. It wasn't the worst experience, but for the $, I would not stay there again.

Stayed here for 1 night but wish we’d stayed longer. Will definitely stay here again if we return. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet so sleep was greeted graciously! Guy on reception was fantastic, very helpful and polite. Location was perfect, minutes away (walking) from Trevi fountain etc.

The staff were so helpful, welcoming and friendly! They helped us to find places. The room was very clean and warm. I would highly recommend this accommodation when visiting Rome thank you again for all your help and advice! 🌞
