"Visited the spa/afternoon tea on a weekday for a special occasion. Booked in advanced. Good value at £39pp although you do have to pay extra for towels, robes and flip flops. You can bring your own like we did. The spa is fairly small but lots of excellent facilities like a lavender and eucalyptus saunas, hot tubs and steam room. We were lucky that there were not many people in the spa when we visited, however I can imagine it getting fairly busy which may feel cramped. The changing rooms were clean, and there were hairdryers. Would be nice to see some moisturiser available for that added spa luxury feel. The afternoon tea was in the lovely brasserie overlooking the lake. The cakes, scones and sandwiches were all very fresh and delicious. The staff were so attentive, felt very special. Thank you for such a chilled out day!"

"We visited family in Southsea and decided to pop over to the Isle of Wight for a couple of days. Travelling by hovercraft we decided to stay in Ryde as we weren't going to be there for an extended holiday. We found Anchor Down online and it looked promising. Booked for 2 nights. Its close to the hovercraft terminal, literally 5 minutes away. Easy to find. On arrival we were greeted by the owners Chris and Desiree. Chris can trace his heritage back to the time of Charles I. They are a fascinating couple who have led an exciting existence. Our room, The Captain, was spacious and comfortable. The view from the window right across the Solent. A comfortable chair to relax into that view, watching the ferry's, catamaran's and hovercraft making their journeys back and forth. Desi has thought of everything to make your stay exceptional, a welcome pack including tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge and breakfast ingredients. They also currently have a deal with a local Cafe providing full cooked breakfast for a reduced price when staying at Anchor Down. En suite is spacious too with a lovely big shower area. Chris and Desiree have a wealth of local knowledge to share that will make your stay on the island so much better. All in all we found it great value with wonderful hosts, and I have no doubt we will be back again as we still have so much to explore."
