St Michael's Manor Hotel - St Albans

Stayed here three nights and were very disappointed with the room. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and is tiny. We had to back in as there is no room to turn around. The shower room was nearly as bad and so small we had to dry ourselves in the room. At £206 per night this was very poor value. However the dining room was good and the staff excellent.

We only stayed one night, on our way back from Norfolk , on a dinner bed and breakfast deal . Lovely welcome from the receptionists . Great environment within the grounds and hotel . We had an air conditioned room which was very welcome in the 25degree heat ! Nicely decorated . Couple of lounge chairs . We had drinks on the terrace . Fab view of the gardens and lake . The dinner was first class . Beautifully presented and tasty . All 3 courses ! Staff very friendly . Our compliments to the chef and kitchen staff . Breakfast was ample . Buffet very fresh fruit and breads etc . Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs lovely . Great location to explore St Albans . Think this will be our ‘go to ‘ stop off when we travel again .

Food was lovely, the service by Adam was amazing but all let down by a very poor environment. We were in a sparse room that had insufficient tables for it's size and it felt a bit like sitting in a warehouse. Boiling hot day, no air con and we asked if we could sit at one of the outside tables but we're told afternoon tea could only be served indoors. Adam was great and did absolute everything he could to improve things within his gift as a young waiter and was incredibly attentive but it was a very disappointing trip which could have been so much better with a bit of care taken by management to recognize the poor environment

We had a work event at the Hotel and it was delivered so well by the hotel staff. It was nicely set up and run throughout. We were looked after very well by all staff but a spacial shout goes to Delowa Lobo. She was so attentive and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. It was great to have access to the lovely outdoor space with a beautiful garden and lake.

It is a pleasure to stay at this hotel as the location is prefect, plenty of parking, close to city centre and countryside. The staff were great, with a positive attitude to serving the needs of customers. The hotels was very busy with two weddings during my visit, and it was somewhat noisy, but it helped being on the lower ground floor garden room. The breakfasts are a key feature of the hotel. The full English was very well presented on the plate. Housekeeping needs to check lighting in rooms. Great place to stay, would recommend this Hotel.

We stayed in the Magnolia Suite which was lovely after celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Oak Lounge with our family. We were looked after by Hepy and Delona who did an excellent job. They were very professional and made sure everything went to plan, nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 14 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Thank you for making our Anniversary such a special occasion.
