Lion Hotel Borovets

Great hotel, food was plentiful, delicious and lots of choice wine, beer, soft drink with dinner too. Hotel was always very hot! Staff are friendly. Spa area and pool very clean and new. Only 10 mins walk into centre for restaurants, bars, slopes or you can jump in a taxi outside of the hotel. We had a lovely week at Lion Hotel and will definitely be coming back with the whole family.

We were pleasantly surprised how lovely the hotel is. Situated away from the centre but walkable to the slopes or the free hotel mini bus every 20 mins from 8.20am-5.30pm. Food was wholesome with plenty of choice, help yourself buffet style- Breakfast is cooked or a continental choice too, plus tea/coffee and juices. Dinner again was lovely, plenty of choice with some desserts. Free wine, beer and juices at dinner whilst in the dining area. Our double room was big enough, very clean. Shower & a bath which was well used after a day on the slopes! Small bottles of shampoo, shower gel and soap provided, towels and a hair dryer. Mini fridge in room too, we never had a kettle in ours, which wasn’t a huge issue for us. Yes the beds & sofas in the bedrooms do need replacing, the hotel are aware of this, but ours were comfy enough, no complaints. Small bar/seating area, open fire and football on the tele. The hotel has had a partial refurb, from what we saw the reception area & dining room looks really fresh. Pool area looked nice too. They also have a spa I believe but we didn’t visit it. There’s a pool table and table tennis (pay to play). Plus we saw a playroom for the little ones. Would defo come back, lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay during our ski holiday and opted for half board. The breakfast and dinners were delicious, with different menus for every day. The staff were really friendly, and the facilities were great (Spa, Sauna, Steam room and pool). The shuttle runs every 20mins to town, however, it is only a 10min walk into the center. The only feedback I would have, is to place a coffee station in the rooms. Would definitely book again.

Our second stay at this hotel and over all we would recommend staying here. The hotel is set in a quiet area approximately 15 min walk from the centre of Borovets and the ski lifts. There is a regular shuttle bus which drops off & collects guests from the town centre adjacent to the Gondola station. We stayed on a half board basis & found the food to be perfectly adequate. Drinks are included with the evening meal which is a nice bonus. The swimming pool and spa area is also a great asset. Rooms are a bit 'tired' but apparently are going to be refurbished this year. Hopefully the thin curtains will be replaced with black out ones as the light shining through did disturb our sleep. Another small improvement would be to provide tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms although I believe kettles can be borrowed from reception.

I have stayed here a number of times and it is always good, indeed it is one of the best in Borovets and in terms of value for money, probably the best. The food is very good in terms of quality and choice with an extensive open buffet for breakfast and dinner. Our family group ranged from 7yrs to 67years and there was always something for everyone. And there is the added bonus of having beer and wine included with dinner. The spa/sauna(s) area has been renovated this year and is very good. It is a good place for families with no rowdy youths and late night bars (in fact I think that the bar shuts at 11pm). Don't be put off by the fact that it is slightly out of the centre. There is a frequent (free) shuttle bus service and in any case it is just a 10 minute walk. My only criticism, but frankly this applies almost everywhere in Borovets/Bulgaria is that the staff at the reception , whilst functional are pretty miserable and not that helpful !

Just back from a week at the Lion. Fantastic staff throughout. Food was varied, hot and delicious. Shuttle buses worked really well in the morning especially and made a big difference to our stay with 2 boys with tired legs morning and after skiing. Never had to wait more then 2 mins for a shuttle bus. Rooms really spacious and warm. So nice to be away from the dreadful apres ski music in the main resort and in the quiet forest. Third time staying here and it really made our week feel luxurious thank you x
