Sarina Beach Motel

Great location, end of town & right on the beach!! Room was comfortable & clean but if your neighbours are noisy you are going to hear them . Limited restaurant choices but overall food was good, well priced & friendly staff. Would highly recommend this hotel as a stop over.

Desperately in need of a quiet break away, I decided to book 3 nights here as I have friends living in Sarina. I gave one star for the location and beach. Although I found my room to be reasonably clean it is dated. Don’t look up! I had asked to be as far as possible away from the bar and restaurant but my room was directly across from this area. On my first night there was a party with loud music and typical drunken revelry until around midnight. When that finally wrapped up I continued to hear chairs being dragged across the balcony upstairs and voices into the early hours. As I am a woman travelling alone, I didn’t feel safe to ask the people to be a bit quieter and there’s no staff around to ask for help that late at night. The second night was better although I could still hear everything from upstairs. The rooms desperately need carpeting to muffle the noise. I could hear everything including people urinating above me. Another negative is DON’T expect WIFI. It’s sketchy at best but mostly non-existent. I wish I would’ve been advised of this prior to arriving so I could’ve downloaded some shows for night-time viewing beforehand. There is no pool furnishings which meant no relaxing by the pool for me. The spa is not heated but icy cold. There were smokers staying in a room near me so I had to put up with their secondhand smoke or close up my room. I left a day early due to the noise levels which are unexceptable for $183/night. The only highlights were a few walks on the beach. What began as an exciting adventure, quickly became an expensive disappointment. In short, don’t stay here if you want a quiet and relaxing time.

The location and view is spectacular. The rooms are clean. We were extremely disappointed by the fact that despite assertions and advertising to the contrary we were unable to relax by the pool or enjoy a BBQ as stated on the website because the pool lights were non existant as was the BBQ. It was high 20+ degrees at 6.00pm as the sun was setting and myself and my wife were hot. I asked the staff in the office where the lights for the pool were located. They (the lights) could not be found. There was the danger of a safety issue developing in the darkness so we gave up on a swim. We had been advised when booking that there were BBQ facilities which was reinforced by the Motel's website. We had been to Goodes Butchery in town to purchase some steak for dinner, support a local business and celebrate my 65th birthday. The staff could not locate the BBQ. It was a very disappointing way to finish the day. The next morning I let a staff member know of my disappointment of the previous evening and their response was" OK, OK, I will pass this onto management." I did not think this was a satisfactory acknowledgement of the issues. If there are problems with facilities that occasionally occur the traveller should be made aware of same at time of booking. I was not. I booked on the morning of an afternoon arrival If an establishment advertises one thing and delivers another may the traveller feel aggrieved? Yes. I certainly do and it was an ordinary way to experience my 65th birthday. An apology will not change my experience however I hope future travellers are aware that not everything is as it appears on the internet.
