Hotel Savoy Sestriere

Wonderful staff who could not do enough to make our stay memorable. Food served for half-board was excellent - regional and superbly cooked. We really enjoyed Hotel Savoy and felt looked after by all the staff - there was definitely a family feel to the place. Room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was quite close to the slopes but the affiliation with one ski hire place meant we could leave our skis and boots at da Rosanna - also providing excellent service.

We'll always have fond memories of this hotel, the negatives will fade fast with any luck. The staff were wonderful, the food fabulous every night and it was a short walk from the slopes...however.....it had a few drawbacks, some of which could be easily rectified. The internet worked on the ground floor and got much worse as you got to the second floor where the kids were staying, with us being on the third floor there was zero signal whatsoever. The rooms smelled very "drainy" from the bathrooms, most of which were partitioned across the adjoinging room with paper thin walls so you heard every single function happening in the neighbouring bathroom. On cold nights the heating wasn't enough to keep the room warm but staff provided extra blankets, hot showers turned to warm ones after about 5pm. Rooms are small and beds even smaller Evening meals were delicous (breakfast hot and cold options were fine), the chef really did excel and the staff were great although the one unsmiling member of staff did seem to make the others dole out smaller rations when he was in attendance. We were paying for half board but this didn't include any wine, cheapest bottle of house red was 24 Euros, it would also have been nice to have water included with evening meals as there were at breakfast but we ended up spending a lot on costly 1 litre glass bottles of mineral water until we discovered it was ok to bring our own water. Lastly the spa, with a minimum of five people needed for them to open it at a cost of 25 Euros each (you'd be expecting a swimming pool for that kind of money), we never did visit, nor did we meet anyone else there who bothered. It wasn't even mentioned by the staff to offer this service.

Excellent food, excellent accommodation. Cleanliness top notch. Location is perfect for the slopes. Staff super attentive and friendly. This is a small boutique hotel that is used by a worldwide clientelle. Another faultless stay. Thankyou.

This Is a charming"old Fashioned" family run hotel with friendly helpful staff. the food is plentiful and if you don't like any of the many courses there is always an alternative the mushroom risotto for me being the highlight of the week. I am stressing the best aspect first because i am not here to denigrate but give an honest helpful review. Now onto the not so good there is a lift which is small and goes to some floors ? but not the top. the staircase which will you use mostly, (as the lift is more than a little lethargic) is a real conundrum and leads off into exciting little corridors and reminded me greatly of the drawings of Esher staircases (google it if you'll see) The rooms as befitting an old fashioned hotel are a little pokey but not unreasonable. the bathroom features a bidet but has a very small half round shower in the corner (beware those who are tall and portly) featuring on the inside what appears to be a blank for an electrical socket!!! I didn't pry or poke nor did i dare to allow the shower head to point in its direction and still lived to pen this review ?? There are extremely odd half round lamps on the small bed side tables that appear cut in half. The rooms were cleaned on a regular basis but the shower still featured a decorative orangey calcified motif on the shower door bottoms. The day we left i peered under the bed in case any small personal items fancied a longer stay and found a very large and potentially angry looking dust bunny staring back at me i left well alone lest it became sentient.

Stayed for a week skiing with Crystal. Hotel quite old, but had plenty of character. The bar area was really lovely. But mainly the hotel owners/family/staff were so kind, helpful and friendly which really made our stay wonderful. Definitely recommend.

The room was dirty with layers of dust and smelt of foul drains to the extent that we had to leave our window open and the extractor fan on. We had young children in the room too and the hotel clearly were aware of this problem but did nothing to rectify it. The rooms are dated and need some money investing in them. The shower was nothing more than a trickle, and there was no bath. The wellness centre is desolate, it has to be booked in advance so that they can turn on the hot tub, we never saw anyone use the facility in the whole time we were there. On the plus side, the food was ok, choice was limited but what was there was tasty. Despite raising the issues with management we were just repeatedly fobbed off. Despite the fact that smelly drains indicates the presence of bacteria and germs so to leave a family in this for a week was unacceptable. We will definitely not be returning, it was the smelliest and dirtiest room we have ever stayed in .
