We were a large group who visited recently and throughly enjoyed our stay. Great location to the beach and other nearby attractions and a beautiful garden. Cleanliness was spot on. The main room is such a great idea for groups and allowed us some time in the evening before going back to our rooms. There was a non alcoholic bar there which was very welcoming and priced decently with some other little snacks like crisps too. Jon was very accommodating and this a real plus. He recommended places for us, replenished our room tea/coffee and even helped us bring our luggage in. He was very welcoming. The landing has a reading area which is just divine. If we weren't on such a busy action-packed getaway, then I would have surely spent some time sitting there. The decor was really lovely and you can see they've put a lot of effort into updating it. Older houses like these come with their issues and that is to be expected, so yes, some rooms are smaller than others etc. If we had stayed as a couple, I would probably have complained about our room as it is more suited to a single occupant based on its size (no.14) however as we were a large group, this was fine as we had taken up 7 rooms anyway and we visited during the Jubilee weekend so they were busy. Our only improvement advice would be breakfast. Breakfast is charged which is fine. We were told that as we were a large group, we couldn't dine together and had to come at different times. Of our group of 11, there were 5 people on one morning, 7 the next and 1 on the last morning. We didn't mind too much but for such a large dining area, they do need to be able to facilitate more than 5 people at once. We think they would benefit from a price list and menu for breakfast. At present, there is just the choice to have cooked breakfast the night before. At £8, I would have expected a coffee machine that does latte/cappuccino etc and a cereal / fruit station or something. We had some guests who didn't want a full cooked breakfast and only eggs on toast or toast. We were told this has never been asked before. They were accommodating (told us we would sort upon checking out) only to try to charge £8 for 2 boiled eggs, toast and some tea and £8 for 2 fried eggs, toast and coffee was steep. She (lady at reception) was quite blunt that it is cooked or not regardless of what people have had and that's the price. I felt like she was trying to make me give in but I stood my ground. We were still charged two full breakfast and one at £6. It's a shame as this last encounter was my last memory. We would suggest that a breakfast menu is printed with 4 items and clearly priced (but also more reasonably) - Full English (meat) Full English (vegetarian) 2 eggs on toast (poached, scrambled or boiled) with tea/coffee Toast with tea/coffee Irregardless, the waitress at breakfast was brilliant. She was so so accommodating and friendly. She really made us feel at ease and is a real credit to the lodge! :) All in all, a great e
