House on Chase Creek

My brother and I stayed here mid-week in April 2016. We were visiting Shelter Island after not seeing it in over 35 years. We were pleased to see that not much had changed!!! My brother had the king-size room in the front middle of the house, and I had the other king-size room. The king size room that I was in had an old fashioned tub for showering/bathing. If stepping over the wall of a high tub would be a problem for you, this is not the room you should choose. This is clearly in the room description but if you have any questions or concerns, you should call Bill about it. He would be happy to give you more details!!! The accommodations are extremely clean and comfortable. Bill is an excellent host and is happy to provide any information he can help with. Both my brother and I prefer a hot breakfast (I can't eat most breakfast carbs or sugars), and we knew ahead of time that Bill provided coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cereals, banana bread and other light items. We both had our coffee and tea in the beautiful breakfast room while planning our day. Then we headed out to get a hearty breakfast before exploring the island. I would highly recommend staying at "House on Chase Creek." My brother and I would love to bring our families next time!

I could not recommend this place more. My boyfriend and I really wanted a quiet weekend away this fall before all the craziness of Thanksgiving and Christmas reigned down upon us. This was our first stay on Shelter Island and we will definitely be back! Bill was a gracious host with an immense amount of knowledge about the island. He was always quick with suggestions of places to eat and things to see. Our room was lovely, the whole place was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable! Probably one of my favorite things was the breakfast sunroom. It was such a treat to get to start the morning with breakfast in a sunlit room looking out on the lake! Also, the B&B is within easy walking distance of a lot including Sweet Tomatoes, Reddings Market and the island bike rental place. LIke I said, it was a wonderful relaxing weekend and we'll definitely be back!

This place is a gem. Beautiful home on the water, great homey feel with a nice sunny game room. It is a short walk to the charming town. Room was well appointed, bed was comfortable and the owner was friendly. This island has a great feel and is really worth a visit.

This charming house couldn’t be in a better location! We really enjoyed bird watching as we woke up to find the owner had set up a telescope as well as bird books on the front porch! The rooms were comfortable and it was easy to get to the beach as well as to the golf course on bike or foot! Wine shop and restaurants were all convenient! Can’t wait to go back!

I can't say enough about Bill and the House On Chase Creek, Bill was a great host who took the time to explain the room and all the other features of the property along with great Shelter Island food locations. The property itself is stunning and has great views of the creek itself and the beautiful scenery around it. I cannot wait to come back this summer!- James

We stayed at the House on Chase Creek last weekend. The house is exactly as in the photographs, cosy, attention to detail. It feels like your own beach house, from the pictures on the walls, to the knick-knacks, to the rocking chair on the porch, squeaky wooden staircase included (which I personally loved). Bill was a very attentive and gracious host. Without our asking him, he upgraded us to the room we had booked and we, therefore, stayed in the river view room, a real treat. In addition, he recommended places to have breakfast and dinner, all very good and close to the house. There are cups, coffee and even hot chocolate available for guests. We immediately took advantage of this and took a seat on the two red chairs on the riverbank with our two mugs of coffee. If you are looking for a break from the hectic city life, Shelter Island is the perfect place and House on Chase Creek is the perfect place to relax.
