This family-run hotel is in Balestrand, by the Sogne Fjord. It has a large garden, a private sauna and beach, and panoramic fjord views. Each guest room includes a private bathroom.
The reception includes a bar and a nice lounge area. The reception area also offers a pool table and board games available free of use for all the guests. On occasions there will be concerts, standup, yoga, bingo and quiz-nights.
A daily breakfast buffet is available, but please note that we no longer serve it at our hotel. You can still add breakfast to your booking at Balestrand Hotel, but the breakfast is served at our neighbor hotel Kviknes Hotel - a short 2 min walk alongside the Sognefjord.
All of Balestrand Hotel’s rooms have a seating area. Some have a balcony looking over the fjord, while others look back towards the mountains.
WiFi and on-site private parking are free.
Sogndal is a 1-hour drive from Hotel Balestrand, while Bergen is reached in 3 hours by car. The Nigard Glacier is within 2 hours’ drive.

Points positifs : vue magnifique avec un petit balcon, accueil très sympathique et serviable, centre du petit village à 2 minutes à pied. Points faibles : aucune insonorisation entre les chambres (on a compris pourquoi il y avait des boules Quies offertes avec les produits de toilette !) on entend tout et c’est vraiment pénible, prévoir un masque car les rideaux ne sont pas occultants, pas de petit déjeuner mais thé / café avec croissants (un petit déjeuner est possible dans un autre hôtel avec une ristourne de 25%).

We arrived at Balestrand Hotel with my boyfriend before the season started. Sandra the owner told us the whole story about it and how her family renovated it to give it a very modern style. She is extremely nice! The hotel has an incredible view to the sea and in August they hold a mini music festival. If you’d like a pop kind of experience, mixed with great service and facilities this is the place. I highly recommend it!

We had a room with a view out to the fjord and we were so happy that we did. The view is beautiful and this is gem of a hotel. Very friendly atmosphere, easy to walk anywhere in Balestrand and tasty croissants and coffee in the morning. We loved our stay.

WOW, what a place! Great accommodations, friendly staff, comfortable beds, great restaurant nearby, shower was hot and great water pressure and a view to die for. I don’t know how it can get better than this. Love this place. If you are in Norway, this is it.

A very artistic hotel with better accommodations than Oslo. It did not offer much in food selections. In fact had to go to the big hotel for food. Which was cool with me. It was a great hotel with its staff and the views. It was great with sea view and new furnishings.

We booked a private sauna + for 3 people. We arrived on time, the sauna was not hot enough (40^C), the floor was dirty and wet, and the towels&rubs that we reserved were not there. We asked the lady that hosted us to take care of this, and while she brought the towels&rubs (although one of them was wet), she dismissed our request regarding the hygiene and temperature of the sauna. Our request regarding the firepit was also ignored. The lady came at the end of the session, opened all doors and announced that we have only 3 minutes left and should get out. We asked for our 3 minutes to change cloths and left with an unpleasant feeling of disappointment.

Wonderful stay at Balestrand Hotel. The owner was very accommodating and the fjord-facing rooms had stunning views. Despite most restaurants and stores being closed until mid-April, the town had a charming atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area and taking in the serene surroundings. Highly recommend as a 1 or 2-night stop for those relaxing in the area. For those doing Norway in a Nutshell, I strongly recommend including a stop in Balestrand and taking the express ferry to Bergen. It's a beautiful journey and the perfect way to experience the stunning scenery of the fjords.

Beautiful hotel, apart from the concrete 60s addition. However this enables more people to take advantage of the facilities. From David the Maitre'D to all levels of staff they couldn't be more helpful.Always very clean.Food was tasty although a bit repetitive as we were half board. A la carte menu looked very good and lunch was excellent. We were lucky enough to be there during the only hot sunny week this summer which was a huge bonus! All in all a brilliant week. Travelled with Newmarket holidays who organised everything, and all the trips so well. Steve our tour guide was the best I've ever experienced.

Our stay was unpleasant from the start: the clerk told us that we still needed to pay the hotel (we had already paid weeks earlier through ***********). She was unconvinced by an actual confirmation and receipt from *********** -- as well as a screenshot of our credit card statement that showed payment!! This was only resolved through a very long call and wait time with *********** (what a way to spend hours of your holiday!). *********** finally had to call the hotel to set them straight. Beyond that, the wifi is poor to non-existent. I finally gave up and used expensive mobile data from my phone to get Internet. There are much better hotels to stay at in Balestrand. Avoid this one.
