We had booked several months ago for one night, allowing us to visit my cousin while visiting the UK with my family. They contacted me just over two weeks before the summer booking to cancel it due to damage caused to the room by guests. I expressed my sympathy and accepted the cancellation. However, when I checked availability in Portsmouth I panicked, as there were no almost no rooms available and everything was now five times the price. I came back to ask if there was anything they could do to help to which they told me no as the room was damaged and the hotel was "fully booked". They literally said there was nothing they could do to help me. I booked another hotel in a different town, meaning we couldn't visit my cousin. However, just on a hunch I then checked *********** - to find they had a family room available to book! I contacted them again on Whatsapp to ask why they had lied to me and told me the hotel was fully booked. They backtracked, saying they meant the en suite rooms were fully booked and this was with a shared bathroom. This was not at all what they had said - and I had asked them in desperation for help! Their reason was obvious - they could now sell that room for three times what we had paid, so better to cancel and sell it to someone else. They made mealy-mouthed excuses and did not make any offer to make right their doings. They are clearly dishonest, and I would advise you avoid booking with them at all costs!
