I went for a family wedding. The hotel was very dated especially the bedroom and bathroom...missing bits from the polystyrene tiles in the roof and black mould around the bath but the communial areas were very pleasant and the maid came every day to change towels and make the bed. The staff were very friendly... although my daughter wanted a bath plug as she felt like a bath and was told "most people prefer showers and that they didnt have a spare one!". The pool area was nice altho we couldn't access the rooftop pool and jacuzzi as it was all locked up and was told it wasn't the appropriate weather?? The breakfast was literally bacon egg beans and toast with cereal every day...no fresh fruit or choice of yoghurts etc. Very well placed for the bus terminal and bars so if you want something cheap and cheerful...then go to The Canifor.

We were dreading our stay after seeing the reviews but it was much better than expected. We arrived at lunchtime and received a rather abrupt welcome from the receptionist who told us we couldn't check in until 2pm. This was fine but the abruptness was not a good start. We had a newly refurbished room on the fifth floor, overlooking the pool. It was clean and had a fridge, which was handy for water and allowed us to keep milk and breakfast products. Workmen were refurbishing rooms opposite and we didn't appreciate the 0730am wake up on our final morning. We only used the bar once. It was OK but lacking in atmosphere. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby...highly recommend The Gate of India. The bus station is also only a 5 minute walk away. The hotel website could do with updating as we tried to find out if a kettle or hairdryer were provided in the rooms before our visit (they are provided). The bathroom was small but adequate. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Overall, it was adequate. We had a pleasant stay and it was good value for what we paid. Definitely not a 4 star hotel.

It’s not the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in but it’s definitely close to it. Single glazed windows overlooking a noisy pop. Asked to have a room higher up so it would be less noisy and was told now. Positives are it is a reasonably big size room, the electricity works, most of the lights work, not all of them. Negatives are nothing in the room has been changed since 1990 is very weirdly laid out and you cannot access the bathroom without hitting the door off the sink . I’m looking at the bed and wondering if it’s safe to sleep in but hopefully it seems okay and clean.

I found kindness, availability and large spaces in the hotel structure. They are very kind. The hotel is in a good place to visit the other places and it is near the public bus station. It is near pubs, restaurants and the national aquarium of Malta

The staff are amazing,the hotel is clean and the food is very delicious. The rooms are very spacious with big balcony and the pools were very clean. Will visit again very soon The hotel have some bad reviews .but it's what you pay for .the hotel is good value for money and the location it's perfect to each all Malta as the bus terminus is just 5 min away . Definitely not worthy of the 4 star it is supposed to be. More like a two star. Staff - lacking in friendliness, very short, not welcoming at all. There was a couple of friendly staff in hotel that will offer a couple of smiles now and again. (Was told very friendly people here but the only friendly people we got was in local shops but they were british) Meals - breakfast time is passable and dinners are lacking flavour. Not a great choice of food. Also you have to go to the bar for drinks in the evenings. No offer on water at all. Not alot to bring in own water. With that no staff on 4 nights out of 5 nights didn't ask us if we wanted a drink. And even the one night we got asked they never returned to see if we did want a drink. Room- very dated, beds are uncomfortable. Showers are good. And the use of the balcony is good. A bit of mould in room. You should be told when checking in that it is a €10 deposit to have a remote for the TV. Cockroaches seen in room and hallway as well. I find that the hotel accommodates locals more than the hotel guests. I know February is a month that is out of season but construction everywhere. Also should of been told that the eco tax you need to pay at the hotel is cash only. With staying at this hotel it hasn't given us a great impression of malta. I would recommend sending a little more and staying at a better hotel in a different location.

I had to go on arrival to reception and ask for bed linen to be changed as they looked used like a stay over service was done there/stains and hairs on the sheet/. I was not happy about it at all. The hotel although advertised as 4 stars, wasn't 4 stars. I haven't seen anything like it before. Chairs in dining room were dirty, bath tub enamel coming off, mastic around the sink brown and looking very tatty. Curtains needed re-hooking on both ends in both rooms we had. 10 euro deposit for TV remotes and horrible pool towels /with marks from spilt bleach -on navy blue towel very visible!/ for 2 rooms/3 people/ put us off straight away -50 euro blocked!?!? Receptionists were friendly, after I locked my room card inside the room I was given another one without big fuss though. Dining room experience wasn't good at all. Service people were shouting loudly to each other above our heads, there was not enough space to move easily between the tables and food was tasteless/ meat without any flavour like it was stored in water for long time or frozen after cooking?/ No one approached us during the dinner to ask if we want anything to drink with our food on all 4 nights we dined there. The only good thing we enjoyed was a very warm indoor pool. Seriously I was happy we had only half board there, what a waste of money it would be to take all inclusive option! We had a meeting on the first morning with a lady from the company who provided the transfer from and to the airport to find out the departure time and to arrange trips if we were interested. She showed us her displeasure when we said we are going to use public transport and not buy any tickets from her. It was rude especially when earlier husband said he's not feeling well and we have to look for a doctor. I don't think I will be coming back to Malta again

During our stay at the Canifor Hotel, we were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms. The value for the price paid exceeded our expectations, and the English breakfast provided was delicious. The staff members were incredibly polite and accommodating throughout our stay. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are already planning to return. Highly recommended

A big Thank you goes to Canifor Hotel's first line of contact and Rapresentees, Catherine Vassallo & Bernice Cortis, being most wonderful & experienced Managers trying their utmost to making the Guest's & Our stay at Canifor as pleasant as it could be; greeting us at the Reception we found Neviana & Rita, which are very helpful; Nathalie Bugeja at the Bar is excellent in her work and approach; Vincent Demicoli & Eugenio Axisa, both Restaurant Managers are most stupendous & experienced persons in catering, assisting you throughout your stay, together with Rita, Raymond, Mario & Jayanti are most welcoming waiters making our stay feel warm, relaxed & family-oriented every time we meet them; Food is by far Great, Amazing & Delicious, and one has to say a Big Bravo to All the Chefs at Canifor Hotel; last but not least, is Vince the Poolboy & Sunny Zammit at maintenence, who help out so much in making Our stay as comfortable as possible... Hence, if you want a cute & welcoming setting to spend a cosy stay in Malta, Canifor Hotel, with its Staff, is the answer...

Hotel was ok rooms were clean food ok nice spot for all amenities. Entertainment was mainly for locals who swamped the bar 5 days a week with their line dancing .guest who are paying it seems are not welcome. Are very standoffish. Would come to malta again but would try another hotel that wasn't swamped by locals

4 star hotel!!!! Cockroachs soon as we walked into our room 103... complained and 2 night stay said its common here at the hotel..and gave us a different room 119 Dirty bedding Ripped towels Broken cupboards Disgusting toilet and shower Pool cordoned off Games room everything broken Food terrible Beer awful Hot tub out of order Everything is run down The hotel was under construction, I wasn't advised of this when I booked the holiday either The last day was made to leave the hotel at 11 even tho our flight was at 21:05 or pay €20 to stay later although the holiday company told us we had a late check out until 4pm Avoid this place

Reading the reviews we were worried of what our journey would be. It’s true reguarding the inside swimming pool and jacuzzi. But for the rest everything is positive! Excellent food never ate such well cooked meat! Rooms cleaned every day. Waiters and receptionists very kind! We are willing to return

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times. It’s cheap and cheerful. All the hotel staff are very nice, friendly and helpful - especially Kelly and Natalie. The hotel is basic and nothing fancy but the location is fantastic. It’s located near many bars, restaurants, shops and bus terminal. Also very close to the sea front. The rooms are clean most importantly. The food is nice, but it’s nothing fancy. The pools are small but they’re nice to have a dip. Only downside to the hotel is - because it’s a lot cheaper than most hotels in this area it tends to get a lot of students staying and they can be quite noisy and up till all hours

The canifor Hotel is a shambles,connection with cardor apartments. On arrival I was put away from hotel with lift turned of at night the nxt day was asked to vacate due to new a/c being fitted .was then moved to cardor apartments to sleep on chipboard made beds,dirty Smelly covers beddin was not changed nor was towels.mould an cracked missing tiles in bathroom.no pools,jacuzzi finished on roof top or ground level. The reception staff was rude. House cleaning staff rude. You could not use the entertainment room as filled with Maltese non paying people who though they owed it an very rude to paying customers. Very dangerous place to go as tools an building materials all over.should not be open for public .would nit advise any body to stay.

Ok I stayed at Canifor court appointments from 22nd December until 2nd January ALL INCLUSIVE I don’t know what’s wrong with these people saying it’s the worst hotel they have stayed in the food was fresh every day breakfast/lunch/dinner I’ve stated here many times these people complaining about it being the worst hotel they have ever stayed in is Rubbish I stayed for 11 nights from 22nd December until 2bd January apart from indoor swimming pool not working everything else was fine I think these people want champagne abd only want to pay beer money don’t believe the Negative reviews written by people who stayed there as the same time as me the staff are fantastic especially KELLY,NICKOLI & NATALIE in the snack bar t he ere was a hot meal available if people had read the notice boards by the restaurant the CHEF was prepared to cook you a dinner to order on Christmas Day don’t believe everything you read about th is s hitel
