The Bull and Swan

How do you give 6*? After a poor stay at the Lincoln Hotel, this was bliss. LOVELY and spacious twin room, bathroom with bath AND shower, Good TV, fan, espresso machine, lovely biscuits and music playing on the radio when we arrived, good linen and excellent pillows. Do you gather I was impressed? Only minor drawback was slightly steep stairs, but if an 83 year old can make them, so can you! Parking AND EV charging at sister hotel 300 yards away. excellent evening meal (did not have breakfast as had to leave early). Really great manager, to be complimented. Lovely place for a break.

Attractive rooms, very comfortable bed and pillows but so warm on the night we stayed and windows not able to open that far. Fans needed. Menu noit appelaing so we went elsewhere for meal, typical pub burgher type fare and not cheap. Breakfast okay but strangely presented rathere than two croissants, one and a pastry which for two people I thought rather odd. NIce cereals with youghurt and berries and grains then choice of cooked food. Omlette not inspiring, very pale and insipid. Overall not impressive, room very nice but nothing exceptional and definitely overpriced.

We went as two families meeting up for fun stay . We were really looking forward to meet up . The hotel is beautiful. It’s old and filled with history. It’s quirky and unique. We had lovely large room for 3 of us . My husband, my 13 year old daughter and myself. As did our friends . The rooms are close to main road so as expected there was noise . As list building I knew they could not do anything to change this. The furnishings in bedroom, bathroom and whole hotel was outstanding . The staff were very helpful and friendly . The only problem was the beds . We had booked family room and was expecting bed for my 13 yr old . There was a camp bed at end of large double bed . I can only describe it as more of a sun lounger with very thin cover to lay on made up . My 13 year old had very little sleep as it was very uncomfortable. As adults it was not stable or strong enough for one of us to safely sleep on . My daughter fell out of it . Because she was unable to sleep had impact on us all. I would advise in future family rooms should have bed in them as stated .This was not a bed by any stretch or imagination . Could easily be resolved by a simple mattress on wheels under the large bed could be pull out for use and would be safer and more comfortable. We would return but as a couple . We loved the ambiance and friendliness. Such a shame re beds in family rooms .

A wonderful place to stay. We had booked a Sunday stay deal which included a delicious Sunday roast lunch and wonderful breakfast. The room we were allocated was large, with a rolltop bath and everything you could need for a night's stay. Great selection of toiletries including a bubble bath :) The staff were very kind and attentive, and we very much enjoyed our stay. The road noise at night might be a bit of a distraction for some, but we slept really well, very comfy bed too.

Historic building full of character & charm, twisty stairs & low beams. Staff were all fantastic, cheerful & very helpful. We were lucky & were able to park almost outside, but the option of free parking just up the road was good. The main road is very busy which meant that with a room on the front with the windows open on a hot night, it was very noisy. There was a fan provided, which was also very noisy. Food was very good, with fresh ingredients from their own veg & herb garden at the back. Dinner here is worth considering; though my pork schnitzel was dry, the burgers are first class. Breakfast too was very tasty. Very central location.

Everything from the room, the staff to the food was brilliant. It was exactly what we were looking for for a family break. In a great location. We will definitely be coming back. Ps. Our son is now addicted to the cookie dough and ice cream from your restaurant!
