The Unicorn (Apartments)

We been staying in this place for 6 years. We absolutely love it. It had a refurb two years ago and it looks outstanding, very modern cleaned and comfortable with historical touch, the building is 17th -century Cotswold stone, who had been through Civil war (has two cellars) from a pub it has been transformed into 8 stunning apartments. Host is incredible, executive. We absolutely love it. Highly recomended.

Our stay at the Unicorn apartment was a truly luxurious experience. From the moment we arrived staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive making check-in seamless. The room itself was beautiful appointed with a comfortable bed and a stunning view very cleaned. The amenities were outstanding from relaxing bath smellies to flavour Nespresso pods in the welcoming package. A really nice relaxing experience very peaceful and romantic.

We stayed here last week in the same apartment we stopped in last year as we really liked it last year but this year we were far from happy . The apartment is great great location is great and the size of the apartment is fantastic but the cleanliness was far from good .Everything just looked a bit tired the furniture especially the sofa wasn’t great and the cleaning was really poor . Don’t know how long the cleaner gets to clean a room but they need longer .Our apartment needs a deep clean .Shame as we loved it last year !!!!

We had an amazing time in this astonishing place. Extremely specious pictures doesn't do the justice. Luxurious furniture colour coordinated, very high speak amenities to include Nespresso machine with selection of flavoured coffee pods, refreshments and free carpark included in the price. Intriguing host on board nothing we requested was impossible and rather very swiftly sorted such as a large table for all of us to have the meeting, early check in, and extra chair etc. We absolutely loved it . In the heart of Stow on the Wold took us one minute walk to the pub not to mentioned how safe and secured and tranquil the place is and immaculately cleaned.

I’ll start with the positives …. Good location, free car parking & spacious. The reality….. It’s not maintained properly, is far from clean, underfloor heating doesn’t work, bathrooms ridiculously cold, thermostats not working etc. The worst issue is the owner/manager. An unprofessional, aggressive fantasist. I reported a very genuine issue to them whilst staying there, and they went absolutely nuts. Sending incoherent messages to the point where I had to block their number. Music and singing had been coming from the apartment above us until the early hours … the owners response “that’s just people having fun, stop stalking me”. Whilst there I never met any staff, not an issue at all, but the owner randomly started accusing me of stalking the staff on social media. Not sure how you do that when you don’t know anyone’s names but that gives you an idea of how irrational it got. I made contact with one number, the number given by the establishment to make contact! According to said owner, they have evidence of me taking 5 friends into the apartment with me and 2 dogs. Again, not true. I was also accused of being abusive to the night staff ……. never met or even knew there was night staff, not true. Don’t book here, genuinely it’s a scary version of faulty towers. We checked out early because my daughter and I were actually concerned by the very weird behaviour. You might wonder how they’ve got good reviews. Well I did a little research with the booking agent when I got back …… they write their own. Funnily enough ‘Geoff’ who’s written umpteen reviews saying how amazing it is, seems to probably be an employee. No doubt there will be some bizarre comeback from said owner. Thankfully we can all smile about it now we’re safely home (that’s me, my five imaginary friends and the two invisible dogs)

Seriously, book elsewhere. I’ve been visiting this area for work & pleasure for years and this is the only place that I’ve ever had a bad experience with.
