My friend, Barbara, and I arrived later than we anticipated having had some difficulty with directions. But once we found the Talkeetna Denali View Lodge, we were mesmerized by its beauty and charm. Tom, the owner, had left a note on the front door for us, and our room, The Trophy Room, was ready for us. We made ourselves at home and sat on the expansive wooden porch that overlooks a pond area below and gorgeous views of Mount Denali on the horizon. We were some of the lucky ones who got to see Denali for all of it's majesty and glory on a beautiful day and evening (July 27, 2016). Our room was lovely and there was a private door to the outside front, a small fridge and microwave, and the furnishings were what you would call Alaskan! Very cool. Just outside the French doors opening into the house, is the breakfast area. Be advised that sounds can be heard early in the morning in the kitchen and from early breakfast eaters, but why would you want to lay in bed when the sun has been up for hours and Alaska awaits? Mandy made a lovely breakfast of homemade waffles with homemade preserved blueberry sauce, bacon and sausage, fruits, a frittata, and juices and coffee. I had some of everything! It was a lovely experience and I would love to just go be there again.
