Hotel California by Aycon

I been there also in 2023. In 2024 following aspects got worse and honestly I will not return: - staff much less friendly - beach prices are higher while quality of service is really poor (bartender puts ice into ice cofee with bare hand, and asking for 5 Euro for such level of service and even expecting tip) - private beach is rented to people from outside hotel, even to families with kids, on weekends all best sunbeds 1 and 2nd row beach boy "reserved" with towels for people not staying in hotel asking us to go to back rows. Ridiculous. - 4 times during week stay we received towel which was not clean but obviously used by another person before (ketchup from pizza, salt marks from sea water) beach boys just rearrange them without washing and find OK to give this to another guest. Staff here is not understanding that night costs 250-500 Euro and higher standart is expected. They just expect you pay more and more for everything without delivering feeling you are welcomed here. So i would suggest everybody to stay and eat elsewehere in cheaper property and just rent sun bed here.

Wonderful hotel, the sea view rooms are a must. The food was good but expensive and the breakfast buffet huge. The beach was lovely and the sea very warm although it is a bit stoney as your trying to get in and out. Lots of sunbeds and a beach bar. Lots of restaurants walkable but it's hilly so if your mobility isn't good you will need taxis which the hotel easily organises

The hotel is right in the water and has lovely views. The rooms are nice and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. Staff are friendly and help with parking and anything else you need. Definitely a great choice in this area. Be aware that half the rooms face the mountain and for lower rooms that means zero view due to a wall so probably worth spending extra for the sea view.

Arrived here around 12:30 and they allowed us to check in early to our sea view room early. It would be nice if they had an attendant up on the road to assist you when we arrived as it was a weekend and the road was quite congested. Not knowing where to go or what to do I had my wife jumped out of the car and ran down to the check in counter and grabbed one of the guys who took our keys and parked it for us and brought our luggage down. The sea view room and bathroom are quite large and nicely appointed. We loved having the patio to sit on. Breakfast in the morning was very good. They had a nice selections of meats/cheeses, fruits, pastries/bread and hot items like eggs as well. I did feel like you spent a large amount of time at breakfast waiting to use the one coffee machine they had. We did eat dinner one night here as there was a torrential rainstorm and we did not want to walk anywhere. We had low expectations based on other reviews and quite honestly the food was terrible. Our pasta and risotto were way too creamy and salty. I barely touched the pasta. Thankfully they took it off our bill. The beach is ok and nice to have access to free chairs. They use the beach club/restaurant next door for their beach service. The next morning after the storm the beach was covered in seaweed, rocks and debris. The attendant told us it was closed for the day (it did open around noon), so we walked to the apartments next door they allowed us to rent chairs for 10 euros. It was great. Their chairs were way more comfortable and they had a nice little beach bar that was cheaper than the hotel and the people there were super friendly. As a bonus they used Amadeus, where we had eaten earlier in the week, as their food provider and it was really good. It did seem that most of the employees spoke little to no English. This is fine but it made interactions difficult. Also, with the exception of the older gentleman in the restaurant who was extremely gracious, none of the employees were super friendly. The rooms and the views were great. Just overall based on the food and lack of friendliness I found it hard to give the place 5 stars.

This was our first visit to both Hotel California & Montenegro and both did not disappoint. A warm welcome on arrival and we were driven down to the hotel by a member of staff as the transfer coach was too big. There are some steep stairs down from the car park to the hotel terrace and entrance but as long as you take it nice and easy it was fine. We checked in quickly and had a lovely Seaview room with balcony which was which was of a very good standard and had all the necessary amenities. What also made this place so good was walking out of the hotel onto the terrace and there was the private beach perfectly laid out with sun loungers parasols free of charge to hotel guests. The beach area was run by a very professional team who were always on hand to assist guests if required ad kept the area very clean and tidy. The beach bar was just next door which offered drinks service at your sun loungers or you could sit under the welcome shade of the beach bar when the sun was at its hottest. Unfortunately they were not doing food during our weeks stay which was disappointing when you fancied a light bite to eat. The hotel staff were amazing and all looked very smart in their uniforms which again was a nice touch, everyone was so polite and attentive. I have to say a big thank you to the housekeeping team who did an amazing job on our room. Every day they were in cleaning, making up the beds, tidying around to the point every time we walked in, it was like it was the first time we set eyes on the room again. A special thank you to the lady who looked after the public areas of the hotel and parts of the beach bar, she never stopped working and everything including the toilets were of an exceptional standard of cleanliness. We did have dinner on the hotel terrace on our first evening but food was a little disappointing and could have been a few more choices on the menu but none the less a wonderful setting. Breakfast was A1! There was everything you could wish for from hot to cold, cereals, pastries, salads, fruit & cakes you name it and it was there. Staff were constantly checking and topping up when required and keeping everything ticking over nicely and being very attentive as always. If you want a nice relaxing break I recommend this hotel the setting is amazing with a fantastic coastal walk through the miloch park into Budva with Olive restaurant en route and more when you get through the park and go down to the little harbour. Also there are some lovely local restaurants above the hotel but be warned its a bit of a climb but definitely try Drago, Cafe Cafe & Famelja Kentera. We are definitely going to go back and spend another week in this delightful place. Thank you HC for an exceptional stay.
