Stayed at Astoria for 4 nights in June. Positives 1) clean room, though small . great house keeping. 2) 10 min walk from freedom square. Near to ministerial buildings, so police presence is always around. Negatives 1)hotel is on top of a hill. So climbing up after a long day out can be a bit tiring. 2) it turns out that the hotel has two blocks adjacent to each other. I didn’t know that and I was placed in the smaller block. Pool, gym are all in the other block (2 min walk ). The corridors and the room itself was poorly lighted giving a creepy feel. 3) breakfast was very limited and repetitive especially if you are vegetarian. You will have to eat some bread and salad if you are a vegetarian. They only open after 8 am , so it can be difficult if you have a tour that starts early. 4) the male staff at the reception looked so unhappy and uninterested in any service or providing information.
