The Tower House B&B

Stayed at the Tower House on Saturday 1st of February. Would highly recommend. The rooms are cosy and beautifully decorated with comfy beds and mood lighting. The nespresso machine and kettle hidden in the wardrobes are a lovely touch and the views of the river Nore from our balcony were stunning. Micheal and Trisha our hosts couldn't do enough for us with recommendations for local restaurants and making us feel right at home. On our morning of departure we had a lovely cooked breakfast in the upstairs conservatory overlooking the courtyard and river in a part of the house that we were told is an old castle dating back to medieval times. Great stay will definitely be back

Our host Michael was conducting renovations but kept one ground floor double room available for us to honour an early booking. The property is historic and beautiful, backs onto the River Nore, with scenic views of the river from upstairs. Our room was very comfortable in every sense with an excellent bathroom & shower. The property includes secure off-street parking. Michael's Irish breakfasts were superb, served in a lovely upstairs breakfast nook and set us up well for our daily adventures. Thomastown is very quiet but acts as a great base to visit nearby sites such as Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny Castle and Kells Priory as well as some further afield like Waterford Crystal Factory, The Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross and Hook Lighthouse. With the renovations likely to now be completed, I highly recommend The Tower House B&B.

Very well-kept and charming B&B located about 20 minutes from Kilkenny Castle. There is a river located behind the yard which provides a great opportunity to take a quiet walk. Mike, the owner, was very friendly and gregarious. The breakfast was excellent, too!

This is a 6-room B&B managed by a couple. We only meet Micheal (The owner). He is friendly. It’s located in Thomastown - 25 minutes drive from Kilkenny City. The rooms are basic and simple. Rooms come with - Coffee/Tea - Set breakfast - Heater in room - Heated Bed - Hot shower, shampoo, bath gel, towel - Free car park - Daily Housekeeping - Outdoor sitting area - Free wifi - No lift - they got rooms on the ground and 1st floor (15-20 steps) Even tho it’s a small town but it’s a charming place to visit.

Pretty little Irish town. Met some lovely people here. Great base from where to explore Kilkenny (about a 1/2 hour drive) and Innistioge, a village about 20 mins away. This B&B is a charming place. Room is cosy & comfortable. Free parking within the premises. Jack the dog is a JOY. Check the in-room kettle first before use. Verdict: Recommended

I stayed at The Tower House B&B for three nights in June 2022 and hope to return for a longer visit on my next trip to Ireland. The proprietors Trisha and Michael are very welcoming hosts who give you space and are always happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. They both helped arrange transportation for me and oriented me to Thomastown which is itself a very special, friendly place. The room I stayed in (the last room on the second story) was spotlessly clean and cozy and the bed very comfortable. There is a small table and chair in front of the room and the view of the River Nore and town from there is delightful. I enjoyed sitting out there in the morning with a cup of tea (there is a kettle, tea and some sweets in the room) before breakfast. I'd never had a full Irish breakfast before; The Tower House was the perfect place to avail myself of this bountiful traditional meal. The quality of the products Trish and Michael use are first rate and every breakfast I had at The Tower House was delicious. Thank you, Trisha and Michael, for a wonderful stay. I hope to see you again soon!
