Hotel Playa Cambutal

Impeccably maintained hotel. I've stayed there a few times a year for a few days each, since it was built. This time, again, was a really good getaway for us. Great surfcasting spots within easy beach walks, good breaks, and fun stuff to explore. Excellent bar and restaurant, absolutely great pool. Top notch service, attentive yet not intrusive. Very competitive prices. We like the laid-back, chill vibe. Regularly see all sorts of wildlife - turtles nesting on beach, howler monkeys, lots of bird species, breaching whales. We love staying here, also because its just so much easier - and nicer - than organizing and mobilizing and taking our own kitchen sink in order to stay at an AirBnB/similar.

Extremely disappointing experience and lack of basic hospitality. While I was still a registered guest, hotel staff found and photographed approximately $500 of my clothing and belongings scattered on the ground beside my car. I checked out only 25 minutes later, yet nobody told me—even though a staff member followed me toward my car because I had forgotten to pay for drinks. About 90 minutes later and 75 miles away from hotel, I discovered what had happened, called the hotel and was told then that my belongings were gone I understand that a hotel cannot guarantee that nothing will ever be stolen from its parking area. My issue is that staff actually saw my belongings scattered beside my car, documented the situation, and failed to alert me while I was still there. A simple “Are those belongings yours?” could have prevented the loss.

We visited for a few nights my wife’s birthday. The hotel is very beautiful and well-maintained. It has a fabulous beach. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. Cambutal is very much into the jungle and it is very peaceful there. We’ll definitely go back!

We love this hotel. It’s perfect for us, which is why we keep coming back! We’re always looked after so well, nothing is ever too much trouble, and we always have the best time

We love Hotel Playa Cambutal! We had a perfect weekend getaway, enjoying the pool and grassy area and beach. The rooms were spotless anf the staff were very kind and helpful.

My experience staying at Hotel Playa Cambutal was wonderful. Right on the beach, the location is amazing. The staff were excellent, and the restaurant offers a nice variety of excellent food choices. I would highly recommend staying here; it is the perfect base to explore everything Cambutal has to offer.
