The Chesterfield Guest House, Torquay

We loved our stay here. Walking distance from train station. Lots of contact beforehand to accommodate our early check-in. Easy access and room to breathe on arrival. Amanda was easy to contact if we needed anything. Honesty fridge in beautiful communal room was great although we didn't use it on this occasion. Trolley available for any extra loo roll, etc, was appreciated. Really comfy room,nice and quiet stay and walking distance to pretty much everywhere. Decent price, spotless, environmentally conscious, good position, lovely hosts. Oh and a lovely little seating area outside was lovely on the summer evenings. Would definitely recommend!

The Chesterfield Guest House is very clean and comfortable and great value for money. The owners of the guest house made us very welcome and were very easy to get hold of when we had questions for them. We have stayed there two times before and have booked up for 2025 already.

Loved our stay, easy check in, comfortable clean room and fantastic value for money. Had the continental breakfast which was very reasonable. Communal room was nicely decorated and there were drinks in an 'honesty fridge'. Would definitely stay again.

I contacted the owners in advance as my train was due in 2 hours before check in & the forecast was heavy rain. They ensured my room was ready for check in from late morning so I could head straight there from the station. It is self service check in, something I've never done before but it was so convenient & the instructions were very clear & easy to follow. My room was very clean, a great size & very comfy. The bed & pillows were so comfortable & the shower was lovely & big. I couldn't fault it. There is a tea/coffee tray & although I don't drink either I did enjoy a hot chocolate & the tasty biscuits. On each floor they have trays with additional toilet rolls/teas/coffees so you can top up when you need to - brilliant idea & so convenient. Although on a busy road it was quiet at night & I didn't hear noise from anyone else, in fact I don't know if anyone else was staying there as it was so quiet. I slept like a baby every night. There's a communal living room with a bar/honesty box & a little snack shack set up by one of the children. I didn't use this facility but again I thought it was a great idea. There isn't a breakfast option but that didn't bother me as it meant I didn't have to be downstairs by a certain time & I wasn't eating the same thing every day for breakfast. It gave me the freedom of getting up when I wanted & strolling down to town to pick where I had breakfast - perfect for me. It's also conveniently placed, a short walk to the sea front, close to the train station & there are 2 corner shops a very short walk away. Overall a great stay & you don't feel smothered by the owners, it's a very relaxed place which is exactly what I wanted. I can't recommend this place highly enough, if you want somewhere peaceful & relaxing then this is the place for you. I would 100% stay here again if I visited Torquay again.

The chesterfield is a lovely building and the decor is amazing. Amanda and Dan are fantastic hosts, very friendly and will go up and beyond for their guests. Amanda told us that there is a map on the table which we could help ourselves to which had places to go and bus numbers to help you. The room that we stayed in was beautiful very clean and it felt we was home from Home

Lovely accommodation, the room was spacious, very clean and well kept in a great location within easy walking distance to bars and restaurant. The hosts were lovely, warm and friendly and looked after us very well, overall a very enjoyable stay.
