Ate dinner here as party of 6 on Monday September 25. First encouraging sign was the place was packed - thankfully we had booked ahead. Good drinks, lovely staff and impressive menu. Really worth seeking out as food well cooked, excellent service plus you get to meet the locals! Can’t wait to go back

Our second stay at the Highdown Inn. Same pretty corner bedroom - spotlessly clean, very comfy bed and lovely view over to a field of ponies. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was good and the breakfast freshly cooked and tasty. Dog friendly and a great place to start a walk on Tennyson Down.

Stopped by chance at this country Inn, it was dog friendly so we decided to have our lunch. There was some great items on the menu and our choices turned out to be excellent. The food was freshly prepared and tasted really good. All in all, with the friendly staff and the good food, we thoroughly recommend it.

Me and two of my sisters went for lunch on Monday just gone. All I can say is wow!! I have never had a steak and mushroom pie like the one served here in my life. It was not only absolutely incredible but it was huge and packed from the bottom to the top of the beautiful pasty. The steak was tender and the gravy delicious. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked as well. The whole meal was perfectly seasoned too! Can't fault our visit in anyway. The staff were lovely and food fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you 😊

As people who like to stay in pubs with good restaurants and accommodation we found the Highdown Inn just to our liking. Admittedly our first impression was slightly off as the restaurant was closed the night we arrived but a very good local alternative was recommended. However the food for the remainder of the stay was excellent, a fact borne out by the number of locals eating there - always a good sign. Booking for an evening meal is essential, the place was packed even in April! The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Would certainly recommend as a place to stay especially if walking around the area - very close to Tennyson Down, Freshwater Bay, Alum Bay and the Needles.

We come here every time we visit the island and it our 1st stop off today. The food and service is excellent all freshly prepared amazing fish dishes well worth a visit. Currently the road says closed but there is a diversion route so don't let it put you off. We're here a week and we will definitely be back!!!!

Having eaten here before, we decided to give it a go for overnight because of the lovely location just behind Tennyson Down, a short walk from the Needles and because it's dog friendly. A helpful young staff member showed us to our prettily decorated corner room, which was compact but clean, comfortable & well equipped. The quality of the food at both dinner & breakfast was some of the best we experienced on this Isle of Wight trip: fresh and tasty with local ingredients. There was an extremely long wait for dinner: 25 mins before our order was taken, then three quarters of an hour more before our food arrived. The staff were generally very friendly but the landlady was sharp when we left, we had to show our dinner receipt before we were allowed to proceed. Unnecessary, and left a sour taste.

Very friendly, nice bright room with lovely views of the country side. The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to make sure that you have everything that you need. The food is really good with excellent vegan options. I would thoughtfully recommend.

Just had a meal at the Highdown Inn this afternoon for a special family occasion and it was fantastic. It was hot, tasty and best of all they served wonderful vegetables which were plentiful. I've been really fed up recently of eating out places when the vegetables are practically non existent ( you can count the peas on the plate ) and the variety of veg is very boring. The Highdown served fresh veg, courgettes, beans, sugar snap peas and cauliflower with all our meals it was delicious. Thank you Highdown and we'll be back, and recommending you most certainly to other diners
