Nestled in the Cambrian Mountains in the heart of Tregaron, Y Talbot is a welcoming and award-winning hotel, restaurant and pub full of Welsh charm, roaring fires and some of the best food in the region. Head Chef Dafydd Watkin has cooked with Marco Pierre White and now cooks the food he wants to eat – comforting, confident, and dangerously moreish. His cheesecake? Local legend.
We’re proud to be fully accessible, with step-free entrances, a ground-floor accessible bedroom, and thoughtful touches throughout. Families are welcome, dogs are fussed over, and muddy boots are part of the dress code.
Our smooth tarmac car park, secure bike storage and drying room make us an ideal stop for motorcyclists and cyclists, while walkers and anglers love the peaceful location, local trails and full Welsh breakfast that follows.

Went for a lovely meal on Saturday while visiting the area with friends. From the outside I never expected the quality of meal we received. Service was very good! With young servers who had personality and jest to go with the great service. I had the crab for starters, the cucumber that dressed it was lovely and flavoured. The steak was nice. If I was going to give any feedback ( which I said while there ) The outside doesn't fit the meal, which is a undersell of the meal. The dining room was too brightly lit, and quite soulless :( Table cloths on tables would be nice. I think this needs to be looked at more closely . Def would visit again

Nicely situated hotel in town square surrunded by hills. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Staff friendlyy and helpful. We have ben here before and will come again. The food is good and available in the modern restaurant or cosy traditional bar.

We had a very warm welcome from Tracy on arrival at this hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was imaginative and beautifully prepared and the overall ambience was excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return soon.

We met up with friends for an overnight stay. The welcome was friendly, the rooms very comfortable and the food was excellent. Every member of staff was helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent. We would definitely stay again.

Fantastic hotel and restaurant. We went for the weekend and it was most enjoyable. The front of house team lead by Tracey were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bedroom was comfortable with excellent pillows! and a very large ensuite. We had a meal in the restaurant where there was good choice and well portioned. Great atmosphere with friendly attentive service.

Once again a superb couple of day at the Y Talbot at Tregaron in the Ceredigion region in Wales. The rooms were superb and we had been upgraded from two singles or smaller rooms at no extra cost. The rooms were warm, freshly decorated, quiet, had very comfy beds with duvets, extra pillows in the cupboard, good for my aging neck and scrum wrecked shoulders, superb large printed photos of silver birch in a swamp with with side lighting at twilight looked three dimensional, one of the best photos that I have ever seen, a very modern large bathroom with German kit (Geberit?), a shower that was warm within seconds of turning on, altogether excellent. The deal we had with the hotel and WMS (Andrew Venables) was a great and very memorable outing. The food is always excellent, very modestly priced and an absolute pleasure. There is a public bar with real locals and it is reminiscent of home counties pubs 50 years ago. The whole atmosphere is of warmth and friendship and quite different from modern impersonal international hotels. Altogether a real gem.

Just stopped for lunch whilst out for a ride. Lovely and friendly staff and welcoming too. £11.50 for a fish finger sandwich and £10 for a cheese and chutney sandwich we thought was far too expensive although they were very nice. £26 for two sandwiches a coffee and a 1/2 pint of lime and soda!! We will try elsewhere next time for lunch.

Stayed for 2 nights with my son whilst visiting the area. Lovely Welsh welcome. The food and service was excellent. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Tentative plans for the same weekend away next year. We will not be looking to stay anywhere else but here.

Wow! What an amazing pub! We had booked to visit and sat in the pub as we had our dogs with us. We were met by very friendly staff and it was extremely welcoming. The food was fabulous and did not disappoint! The scotch egg starter was delicious and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her crab. For the mains we had two slow roasted lambs, a veggie dish and the haddock. The food was lovely and the presentation was impeccable. There were four empty plates! We couldn’t leave without having desserts and they were beautiful. We will definitely return
