Hotel Pelegrin Plava Laguna

This is a review for the Pelegrin Plava Laguna hotel, June 2025, which opened after renovation on June 12. The hotel is still in the process of renovation, but they are already accommodating people and making money. So, the air conditioners are intermittent. They work one day, then the next, yesterday the air conditioners were broken throughout the hotel, we opened the windows, but there was noise from the bars and the concert until 5am. Terrible smell in rooms of glue and construction which doesnt go away.... The minibar refrigerator does not work, there is no clothes dryer, the glass in the bathroom is dirty, when we checked in we found metal fittings in our bathroom. We were moved from one room to another, and there were problems everywhere. Electronics throughout the hotel and they do not work, there are buckets in the hallways because the air conditioners are leaking, workers walk around in construction clothes. Absolutely all drinks are paid, even water, tea, coffee at dinner! This is madness. Only tea and water are free in the morning. This is not a hotel. This is hell.

Why this hotel has 5 stars again? Very disappointed at our arrival, the hotel is far from being modernised. All around there are old red carpets with some (i hope) coffee stains or something like that which 5 stars hotel should not have! The furniture in the room is outdated, especially bathroom (the picture is very different than on booking site). There is no lotion which 3 stars hotel have. The balcony was dirty with leaves and cobwebs. Our bed was 2 single beds connected into one and it was really unfortable sleeping on this (even thought the side said the opposite). Also the minibar or fridge is empty and the tv is probably a little bit bigger than my laptop. After a long day and bad weather me and my partner decided to go to the spa/pool. What a scam! The pool was full with people and children jumping around and only 5 beds to relax or even put your coat on? the pool is soo small that i dont know maybe max. 10 people can move in it? We dont want to be squeezed in (Also there is no jacuzzi? )so we decided to go to the spa. Here comes the bigger scam. We asked a lady if we can go in the spa and she said that all places for the spa are already taken and the next free place is next day after 10am (time for check out). We cannot use the spa (or a pool) becuase we had the checkout the next day. They have a rule that in the spa you can only be for one hour but on not really my suprise people stayed there for 3h+ because ofcourse noboday would kicked them out. Anyway I dont even know why we book that hotel were we cannot go in the pool our use spa. SCAM. Not to mention that the hotel has 400* rooms so the logic behind the size of the pool in really poor. The biggest scam of our mini stay was food. We chose 4 or more stars hotel especially beacuse of the food. The food was DISGUSTING. There are no mini boards with name of the dish so you dont really know what the hell you are eating. The food was belowe the avrage in terms of quality. Also the food dissapeared so fast beacuse of football teenage players (there were 2 teams or) and imaginate that you SHOULD WAIT MORE THAN 30min IN THE 5 stars hotel to make (they didnt even made it btw) a dish that is missing and promised. Really small choice of food left (we came early on the dinner just beacuse of that) Anyway I wanted to eat the chicken breast salami (idk if it was a turkey because there is no label to know what the f*** is this meat) and when I looked at it it was yellow (i dont even wanna know how old was this salami). The fruit was so old that kiwi was dry and some of bananas were brown/black. For dessert you can only have 3 options and one of them is the old friut in the glass (again why is this 5 stars hotel???) Also the tables and chairs around us was so outdated and tables were not cleans (full of crumbs ew). The breakfast is nothing special, they dont have 1,5% milk or lower (there are no labels again). Also for the omellete you should wait around 15 minutes because there is just one guy

Location far from Umag, more than 2-3 km. . You can go to Umag via the little train. Beach average, and natural scenery a little bit disappointing, Good outside pool, however the water was a little bit cold. Good spa, with a swimming pool with sea water and two saunas. Good food, both breakfast and dinner, but not five star quality. Parking for 1 Euro/day, is a bit ridiculous. Nice amiable staff. It not a bad hotel, but its quality is not five star, maximum four. Expensive taking in consideration the quality of services.

We visited for drinks as we were staying at a sister hotel nearby. The hotel is set within a pine forest, lovely nature, lots of shade. There was a big car park at the front. The hotel seemed very clean and had a calm atmosphere. Very little children (if any) around, it seemed more adults and maybe some older teen age kids. There was a casino in the lobby. We sat in the outside bar and they had a live music while guests played cards at their tables. Totally cool and chilled. The pools we saw by the bar looked very shallow so not sure if they might have bigger ones. There is a train that runs regularly and can take you to the other hotels within the Stela Maris Resort and also to Umag. The fair is 30kunas each way.

Non credo che oggi si possa fare una recensione obiettiva in quanto l’hotel è chiuso in fase di ristrutturazione. Ho frequentato questa struttura per 20 anni dalle 2 alle 4 volte all’anno. Sono sicuro che diventerà molto bello e all’altezza della classe che aveva in passato.
