The meeting and greeting was warm and then …nothing! Dirty room when we stayed for 4 nights, TV screen full of dust, only bins emptied and water and other things stocked. No cleaning done. On the morning of day 2 we asked for extra bottled water as we take quite a bit of medication. We were simply told, “No!” No suggestions where we could buy water or offering it to us for a price. Breakfast was a complete different scene- In half an hour no food available, slow cleaning if table and refilling of food. Some days, no bread or butter or jam, no milk. We were told milk would come at 9 o’clock when breakfast starts at 7:30 and people leave on tour by 8:30-9!!! A jar of yogurt was only seen on our 4th morning and so was an attendant who asked for our breakfast coupons… none was given to us and on previous days no one checked this. These are some of the issues. It was our last stop on the Silk Road. We had stayed in atleast 5 hotels in the last 15 days and Huanju was the worst, infact the worst ever for us veteran travels. No service for expats! The girl didn’t even reply to my query on WeChat! No help at all and a below average afternoon tea. Even the coffee machine in the reception had no coffee sometimes. Somedays, only hot noodles were cooked, not the dumplings in soup! Very disappointing service! VA
