I’ll begin with the positives. 1. Lorna: if Carlsberg’s did reps, Lorna would be an ice cold pint on a hot day. (You can almost imagine how the first sip tastes). Enough with the beer metaphor's, she is very well connected & efficient with any desires you may have. Meeting Archie made our trip. 2. The cleaner: honestly, we gave this cleaner a few challenges. She was put through her paces to say the least but my god, she done well. Very proud. I think Kim Woodburn maybe doing a season in Val. 3. Location, location, location - love it or list it. Kirsty & Phill would list this. 4. The boot room: if you thought Lorna was special, wait until you visit the boot room. The negatives: 1. The lift smells like poo 24/7. 2. Breakfast: at breakfast they provide activities. Spoiler alert: it’s a scavenger hunt to find cutlery with no clues. BYOC (bring your own cutlery) this hotel runs this policy but ironically you need a straw to eat their scrambled eggs. We did ask for the recipe, apparently it’s 1 egg to 1 cup of sick. 3. Restaurant: if you’re looking for a delicious meal after a hard day skiing, do not use this restaurant in the hotel. To conclude, I would definitely return, albeit, a bedroom on the ground floor to avoid the lift would be desired.

We just had a few days here. Booked last minute so didnt know what to expect. This hotel is lovely, right in the centre so walking distance to everything including the slopes. More important than anything though were the staff. All so lovely and friendly….even when we left at 5am!

We stayed here as a family of five,over the Christmas holidays. The hotel was beyond our expectations - the rooms in the hotel are delightful being a real good size for Val. Breakfast plentiful, staff very welcoming and location perfect with easy access to main Gondola. The hotel does not have room service however there are many good restaurants in walking distance and a fabulous bakery opposite.

Great hotel with super friendly staff. Rooms are high spec for 4 star and nice little balcony. Really good lounge are Al downstairs if you fancy a more relaxed apres ski. Breakfast is self service but good selection and amazing patisseries. Central location on the main high street and short walk to ski lifts. Would stay again

We stayed here for a week in February half term. Our room was tidy and clean with a warm chalet feel - plenty of storage and balcony looking onto mountains. The boot room was great, with heated boot racks. Breakfast was nice, no warm food but their was a good selection of continental and pastry options. The location of the hotel is great, right in the centre of the village and a 5 minute walk to the main gondola area in Val d’Isere. Overall a great hotel for a really reasonable price and we would definitely recommend this hotel

Excellent accommodation, great service. We had a huge room, really comfy and well appointed. Great location, in town and couple of minutes from the lifts. Half board and ate in the restaurant under the hotel. Food was amazing, as was service. Drank at Le Garage and Yule. Snow amazing, just perfect.

Fantastic hotel! Can’t fault anything. Staff were brilliant, location was ideal and our room was exceptional. Very clean and had everything we needed. Wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend. Well done and thank you Hotel Kandahar team!!

We were so impressed with this hotel and echo the comments of others who are surprised it is only 3 star. The staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. The cleaners are superb and it didn't matter how late we left our room they would always be in and clean it beautifully. There are some small touches which really made a difference such as being able to phone down and for no extra charge they immediately bring you breakfast in bed, really appreciated as we were unwell a couple of days. They also supply a kettle for the room if you ask, robes, and allowed us to order in pizza and eat it in the bar area. The restaurant attached to the hotel is also great but as we were there two weeks we didn't go half board as wanted some variety. Unlike a lot of French ski hotels we have stayed in there is loads of storage space in the rooms and they are spacious and well laid out. We stayed two weeks over Christmas and New Year and could have stayed longer. We didn't try out the sauna and steam room until the second week but wish we had as it was really nice. The location is fabulous, right in the centre of the village but set back slightly so not too noisy. About a 5 - 10 minute walk to the Olympic lift and a two minute walk to the bus stop. I honestly can't recommend this hotel highly enough, amazing staff, fab location, spacious rooms and value add items that made the stay really lovely.

This was our first time in Val and we didn’t know what to expect. The centerpiece was our accommodation. From the moment we arrived, we were delighted to be at Hotel Kandahar. Right in the dead center of town, beautifully designed with a perfectly comfortable room for our family of four. Breakfast every morning was delicious – a generous spread of pastries and other alpine culinary delights. The front desk staff were unfailingly, helpful. Julien and Melanie, and really everyone, was friendly, helpful, and always available. When our son tore his ACL, the front desk found crutches to allow him to walk to the clinic. When we asked for bags and bags of ice, they were nothing but helpful. When I especially appreciate it was the thought that went into the room design. A separate area with a large king bed for adults with a bunk bed area at the other end of the room. The bathroom had two sinks, and was nicely supplied every day with l’Occitaine toiletries. We ate at the hotel restaurant two nights. Much like the front desk, staff, the waitstaff there was incredibly friendly. Enjoyed talking to one of the owners on New Year’s Eve! One last note. If you have a car, make it a small one. Parking in their garage was terrifying! We are so glad we picked this hotel for our stay and hope to be back someday soon!
