it's a shame I didn't take pictures or videos of everything that has happened here in our 2 nights only (!) visit. but nevertheless, I'll be sure to tell you about all the experience we had with this place.
CHECK IN
we had 2 nights reserved here. we entered the door to all 8 of apartments at 7pm approx but didn't get to get to our room until 8.30pm. in the box where the key is supposed to be there was simply no key. we contacted the owner via WhatsApp and waited for approx 40 min until any actions towards solving our problem were taken. during this time we met some great ppl living here, we had a nice chat and they were sorry for our experience, but had nothing to do to help us as far as they're just guests as well. anyway, after approx an hour a man with keys came. he opened a door for our acquaintances we made while waiting to their room and then headed towards ours. he checked the box for the key once again just to be sure that we're not dumb and there was really no key there. then he opened the door.
in the room there was someone else's coat, dirty dishes and a couple of personal belongings. the man started to clean everything up - he threw away the trash and belongings, changed the bedsheets, washed the dishes. mind you, he wasn't speaking English or Deutsch well enough to understand any of our concerns. this took him another 30 minutes. when we checked the room, the bedsheets he changed were wet, and he clearly hoped we won't notice it but nevertheless he changed it again after all.
there goes the most interesting part of the story. we told this man to get us another room earlier, before he even started to clean up, but he refused - seems like there were no free rooms left. okay, understandable. we asked for a refund, at least partial, as we were waiting to check in for 1,5 hours by that time, but he said there's no chance we could get it. okay, at this point I just wanted to lay down and relax, that's it, just give me a bed to sleep in.. and then we realised that probably somewhere out there there was just a random guy whose belongings was kicked out of this apt right in front of our eyes - and he still had a key because it wasn't in the box outside the room. at this point our concerns were more about safety than our own money. spoiler: we were right to freak out. after several unsuccessful attempts of trying to tell the man that we're worrying about the key he rang someone who translated our concerns and probably told him what to do next. he told us to get inside and wait for another guy who will change the lock. this took another 30 minutes. after all, the lock and password on the box were changed and everyone left me and my friend to rest.
our rest wasn't long though. at approx 12.30 someone tried to open our door with a key from the previous lock several times. he was struggling. I could open the door to him and tell what happened, but he surely wasn't in a good mood so I didn't take a risk. as we're two girl travellers, we stayed silent. he left after 15 mins of trying. it felt like I grew 15 years older during those moments and I want no one experience it ever again. it was outside of the working times of the hotel's WhatsApp so nobody answered our messages about someone trying to break into our room on time..
AMENITIES
so the man cleaned up the room just before we entered to it obviously wasn't that tidy after all.
- the floor was dirty as he was walking in his shoes inside the room.
- the right wall was covered in someone's handprints and white dust.
- the toilet seat was dusty.
- the walls were thin and you could hear next room's noises.
- we caught a spider the first night and a 2cm cockroach the next day. probably insects are common here.
